3S7A5120The Culture Project celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a benefit co-hosted by fashion designer, Domenico Vacca and Cornelia Ravenal at the private home of Katherine Keating.

The evening celebrated the work of the organization led by Allan Buchman, the founder and artistic director.  Award-winning actor and director, Gabriel Byrne, delivered an inspiring opening statement about the timeliness of the project, and the impact that theater can have on sparking conversation about moral dilemmas and inciting political action.  Guests were also treated to a live performance from the play “Three,” representing the future of The Culture Project’s Women Center Stage initiative, featuring actresses Julia Blauvelt, Allison Taaffe and Madeline Barr, as well as a reading by American journalist and writer of “Sold”, Patricia McCormick.

Funds were raised through silent auctions, including exclusive items like an annual membership to The Domenico Vacca Club–a private members only boutique club in Midtown Manhattan with an estimated value of $20,000/year.

The Culture Project is one of New York City’s most prestigious downtown Off-Broadway theater companies, supporting work that speaks to the issues of today through the artistic voices of tomorrow. It is their mission to bear witness to social injustice by fostering innovative collaboration between artists and human rights organizations, impacting public dialogue and policy.
