JOSHUA BEAMISH/MOVETHECOMPANY PREMIERES EDGAR ALLAN POE’S ‘MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH’

Choreographer Joshua Beamish's MOVETHECOMPANY premiered his latest full-length work, The Masque of the Red Death, at The Joyce Theater's 2018 Ballet Festival. Based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story of the same name with narration recorded by Jessye Norman.  The dancers included Chelsea Bonosky, Sean Aaron Carmon (appearing courtesy of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater), Jane Cracovaner, Elijah Laurant, Eric Lobenberg, Belinda McGuire, Jarrett Siddall, and Matthew Wylie.  Following the opening night performance there was reception at The Joyce.   Vernon Scott, the Joyce Theater's Assistant Director of Special Events, spoke congratulating Beamish, his company, and the choreographer's return to The Joyce Theater after three years. Guests included Chelsea Beamish, Amy Fine Collins, Joanna and Brian Fisher, Roger Kluge, James Marcus and Nina Mehta, Felipe Escalante, Mr. and Mrs. Howard S. Paley, Emily Reifel, Ben Rodriguez-Cubeñas and the Joyce's own Linda Shelton.
