MEGU REACHES NEW CULINARY HEIGHTS

The finest Japanese concept and sushi bar marks its highly anticipated return, reincarnated with a fresh culinary perspective and curated bar presentation set amidst the iconic Dream Downtown Hotel in Chelsea.

Megu greets guests with a scroll-laden suite, offering a front row seat at the sushi bar or private dining room. Neon red glows throughout the establishment, creating a posh subterranean environment in which an infinity-mirrored staircase descends into the Kimono Room, Bar and Lounge, reminiscent of a slightly futuristic shoji screen. A visual tapestry of exotic Asian motifs set against a backdrop of customizable lights and 3-D imaging in the main dining room introduces an unparalleled event and dining experience. The 5,000 square-foot venue with 145 seats is filled with customary Japanese interior accents, complimented with a contemporary ambiance.

The main event goes to the cuisine, which is led by the duo of Culinary Director, Nils Noré and Chef de Cuisine, David Rashty. The menu features modern Japanese fare and sushi, with appetizers such as spicy cheese dumplings filled with mozzarella, feta, scallions and tomato-chili sauce or opt in for the classic miso soup with soft tofu and wakame topped with scallions. Small plates are great for sharing and include an edamame platter, crispy rock shrimp, wagyu gyoza, tuna tartare, Hamachi and much more. If that doesn't tempt your taste buds, the menu is an endless list of delectable options such as sake braised short rib, filet mignon, hassle back Japanese sweet potato, Okinawa potato ravioli, cucumber salad and baked little neck clams.

The sushi and sashimi menu is equal in quality and variety with items such as Megu roll with spicy tuna, crispy potato, akami and kanzuri mayo or opt in for the meatpacking roll with A5 wagyu, foie gras, simmered daikon, mushroom, crunchy leeks and BBQ sauce. They also offer the beloved classics such as tuna avocado, spicy tuna, cucumber avocado and unagi avocado. If you were looking to share, the sushi and sashimi platter is a combination of 5 pieces of Nigiri, 1 roll and 5 kinds of sashimi.
