The Small Hope Bay Lodge in Andros Island, Bahamas is not your typical Bahamas hotel. Opened in 1960, it was the first dive-dedicated resort in the Bahamas, and for the past 46 years it has remained under the ownership of the same family, ensuring a legacy of top-quality service and attention to customer satisfaction.
The Andros Barrier Reef is the third longest and one of the most unexplored reef systems in the world, and no one knows it better than Small Hope Bay Lodge. For snorkelers, Small Hope offers daily boat trips to the reef, visiting different sites each day at depths ranging from 10-20 feet. The Lodge also offers a special excursion called Snorkel Safari on Fresh Creek, where visitors often spot wild dolphin and even swim with them in the water. Small Hope also offers snorkelers a chance to join divers on a Shark Observation experience.
Andros Island is laced with thousands of miles of inland waterways and fishing flats. These proved world-class conditions for fly fishermen in pursuit of bonefish and arpon, and the Lodge's experienced guides are there to assist you with whatever you may need.
Andros is a paradise for birders and naturalists. More than 300 species of birds have been recorded in the Bahamas, and 50 species of orchids have been found here. Sometimes referred to as, "the Big Yard," Andros is the largest island in the Bahamas with an area of 2,300 square miles.
Small Hope Bay Lodge now offers eco-tours, giving visitors an opportunity to explore the diversre environment. Guests may also take self-guided tours on foot, bike or kayak.
For more than forty years, weedings have been a celebrated part of life at Small Hope Bay. Guests can get married on the beach in a simple ceremony by th sea.
