The Beast is a thrilling experience for children and the kid in all of us. Circle Line describes the 30-minute ride as “part roller coaster, part speed boat” and having experienced it, the comparison is accurate. From the moment the boat roars into motion, your breath is taken away until you settle in to enjoy the skyline of Manhattan and the captain’s occasional story. The boat comes to a quick, spinning stop at the Statue of Liberty at a very close distance for photo ops that range from selfies to group shots aided by the “first-mate”.
For those who like to get wet, The Beast typically provides splash and mist to riders toward the back depending on what other vessels’ wakes are on the Hudson to ride through. The first-mate is known to lend children a hand with a hose and squirt gun if the waves aren’t strong.
Children must be at least 3 years old, and 40″ tall and the boat has all the safety amenities one might expect, included life jackets and seat belts. For the price, this ride is a great way to take in sites and have a unique NYC experience at the same time. Hurry though – The Beast goes into hibernation for the season soon!
