Game of Thrones
One of the most talked about shows, and maybe the most dramatic, it looks like the show’s just heating up, and the twists just keep on coming. It might be a good idea to keep a box of tissues next to you, your favorite just might die. But let’s face it: you’ll keep watching anyway.
We’ve probably all binge-watched this show before, but somehow hot weather seems like just the right time to get back to the quirky Rory-Lorelai mother-daughter relationship. Time to get the girls together and the popcorn ready!
John Hughes, Sixteen Candles
If you’re with your family this Memorial Day, you probably have a mixed age group, so the question of what to watch becomes particularly difficult. A John Hughes movie is always a good bet: they’re fun, light but also oddly insightful. Just added on Netflix, this movie will remind you of the 80s dream high school experience that never really happened; that’s why we live vicariously through movies.
San Francisco classic, Full House has been in our hearts a long time. How can anyone forget the Olsen twins’ “You got it dude” quote? This show gives us the epilogue we’ve all been wanting for years, the gang getting back together in their famous Painted Ladies’ home (though passive aggressively without the Olsen twins).
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schidmt
Ok so New York + hilarious cult-grown protagonist + Tina Fey, how is this not golden? It’s silly and fun, especially if you know New York life and culture. Living in an actual closet (not really that different from a typical New York apartment), Jimmy Schmidt is as cute as she is naive. So watch her bumble and stumble this Memorial Day and binge on this Netflix original.
Nicholas Sparks Marathon
A series of movies you just can’t push yourself away from, Nicholas Sparks movies are so addictive it’s unfair. Whether you’re watching the ultimate chick flick classic The Notebook or the relatively recent The Lucky One with heartthrob Zac Efron (who knew he would get so attractive?), these movies can be just what you need, especially if you want to curl up at home.
Ok so this another Zac Efron movie. But let’s face it, we really can’t stay away. With the release of Neighbors 2, a recap is sort of necessary, especially if you’re looking for a movie of laughs and easy fun. This one is less family-friendly, so maybe avoid if you’re having a more family-oriented Memorial Day, they may not appreciate some of the sillier and inappropriate scenes…
Oscars Recap: The Revenant, Room, Brooklyn, The Danish Girl, The Big Short, The Martian, Bridge of Spies, Mad Max: Fury Road
Did you find yourself watching the 2016 Oscar Awards and thinking that you hadn’t seen half the films nominated? This is the perfect time to catch up! Whether you’re looking for an action film or an emotional drama, you’re sure to find something you’ll love, especially with the family. If you’re a chick flick person, you’re sure to impress your family with your sophisticated movie taste, with the benefit of actually truly enjoying these films!
True blast from the past, this show is probably the easiest to binge on. And let’s face it: we’ve already done it before. So go and get reunited with the original squad (well maybe not original, but definitely up there) and get ready to laugh at the show that no one really knows how it’s remained so popular even today.
Once Upon A Time
This show might be said to have gone on a bit too long, but somehow you just can’t stop watching it. Who wouldn’t want to watch a show where you’re favorite fairytales are all included and romance and action are abundant? The heroes are more complex and compelling, and the villains are fall-on incredible; sometimes you don’t know whether to love them or hate them. So buckle up and get ready to binge.
