"Ladies Who Lunch for a Cure"

Benefitting the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation

The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation launches "Ladies Who Lunch for A Cure" on May 6, 2014 at a private East Side landmark residence owned by Dena K. Weiner and David Rozenholc.  The event will honor Nicole Miller who will showcase her Spring/Summer 2014 collection before a private audience, and benefit the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation.

Nicole Miller states, "I am honored to have been asked to launch this event that supports the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation.   It is through research that an end to this dreaded disease will be realized. I am delighted to support such a worthy cause."

Nicole Miller's "Versailles" period inspired the Spring/Summer collection. "This beautiful home could not be more picture-perfect to present my fashions. It seamlessly sets the stage for my collection with its winding staircases, marble floors, grand chandeliers and elegant period furniture," she notes.

The luncheon is the first event of its kind to raise funding for the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation. "We are honored that Nicole Miller accepted our invitation to be the first celebrated fashion designer to launch the event.  Not only will her support draw attention to our cause, it will raise the much needed funding to our cancer research programs," states Dr. Samuel Waxman, Founder and CEO of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation.

32nd Annual Fred & Adele Astaire Awards Nominees Announced at Social Bar

The nominees were announced by NY Post columnist Michael Riedel at Social Bar for the 32nd Annual Fred & Adele Astaire Awards which will be held on Monday, June 2 at 7:30pm at NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. The Astaire Awards is the only awards show to honor excellence in dance and choreography on Broadway and in film and were first started in 1982 by the late Fred Astaire and the late Douglas Watt (a critic and writer for the NY Daily News and The New Yorker, his 100th birthday would be this year). This year will also honor 5-time Tony Award nominee and 2-time Emmy Award-winning veteran choreographer Pat Birch with its Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award and legendary dancer and dance instructor Luigi with the Outstanding Achievement in the Preservation of Musical Theatre Award.
