Each Bishops Pond interior is airy, open and dramatic with 9-to-12-foot-high ceilings, oversized windows, 4-inch wide solid hardwood stained oak floors, fireplaces with marble surrounds and open, island kitchens with custom cabinetry, marble or granite countertops and top-of-the-line appliances.

If you build it will they come? In the Hamptons they do. And on the North Fork too.

When my company, The Beechwood Organization, broke ground for our first luxury condominiums out East, Bishops Pond Southampton Village, many were skeptical. We bought land at the height of the downturn and were gearing up for a new style of home ownership in the venerable Hamptons.

The reality was a very warm welcome. The 69 villas and townhomes went from 0 to 55 sales in six months. Now, one year later, a few residences remain and we’re looking to build more.

Buyers are empty nesters, multi-generational families and young professionals who want more quality time and resort-style services.

They want to downsize from estates or seek a second home without the worry of maintenance from landscaping and keeping the pool pristine to clearing snow.

It’s about location too. It’s a short drive to Village amenities, a bike-ride to Coopers Beach and steps from an on-property clubhouse with private fitness center, pond-side pool and tennis court.
Similarly, on the North Fork, we’re building at The Highlands Club. Each community is next to a world-class golf course, Cherry Creek on nearby Reeves Avenue and the Long Island National near Aquebogue.

Our East End homes are designed for the way people want to live and entertain today. There are open floor plans, light-filled rooms, wood floors, crown moldings, nine-foot ceilings and designer kitchens.

Our first 12 homes in Aquebogue are virtually spoken for. We just bought the land for 14 new homes at Reeves. Both sites are a short and scenic drive to vineyards, farm stands, restaurants and shops near the Peconic Bay and Long Island Sound for sailing or a casinoferry ride.

I like to think we don’t just build new homes. We build lifestyles.
