Where to Find A-Listers in NYC This Month

From October 19th through the 23rd, Jimmy Kimmel Live is broadcasting five original shows from the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House with a lineup of celebrity guests—Jay Z, Bill Murray, Michael J. Fox, Bradley Cooper, Misty Copeland, Howard Stern, and more. The show returns to Jimmy Kimmel's hometown for the second time.

Red carpet arrivals at the Centerpiece Night Gala Presentation at the 53rd New York Film Festival on October 3rd will include Michael Fassbender—the star of Steve Jobs, the feature film based on Walter Isaacson's 2011 biography—as well as his co-stars Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, Jeff Daniels, Michael Stuhlbarg, Katherine Waterston, Perla Haney-Jardine, Sarah Snook, Adam Shapiro and others. Academy Award-winner Aaron Sorkin and Academy Award-winner Danny Boyle, the film's writer and director, respectively, will join them at Alice Tully Hall (entrances on 65th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue) at 8:00 p.m. Universal Pictures will release the film on October 9th.

On October 6th, the Film Society of Lincoln Center will host "An Evening with Kate Winslet"—a benefit for the Film Society, which includes dinner and an intimate conversation between the Academy Award-winning actress and NYFF Director Kent Jones.

The Directors Guild of America will honor director-producer Ron Howard, director-writer-producer Tyler Perry, film editor Thelma Schoonmaker, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, and Teamsters Local 817 president Thomas J. O'Donnell at the 2015 DGA Honors. The event will be held at the DGA Theater (110 West 57th Street) on October 15th at 7:00 p.m., with red carpet arrivals at 6:00 p.m. and VIP after-party at Nobu 57 at 8:30 p.m. Alan Cumming will host the event, and Bryce Dallas Howard, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Alec Baldwin will be among the presenters.

Before Pan—the Warner Bros. Pictures film directed by Joe Wright—debuts nationwide on October 9th, the legendary Ziegfeld Theater will host the film's U.S. premiere on October 4th. Attendees will include Hugh Jackman (Blackbeard), Levi Miller (Peter), Oscar-nominee Rooney Mara (Tiger Lily), Garrett Hedlund (James Hook), and the director, among others.

"TimesTalks Presents Guillermo del Toro," featuring the visionary director-writer-producer of Pan's Labyrinth, is taking place on October 13th at 7:00 p.m. at the TimesCenter (242 West 41st Street). Del Toro will discuss his new film, Crimson Peak, from Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures starring Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, and Charlie Hunnam. The film opens in theaters nationwide on October 16th.

The limited-engagement preview performances for Thérèse Raquin—the new Broadway play directed by Evan Cabnet and based on the novel by Émile Zola—will begin on October first at Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street). Keira Knightley stars as Thérèse and she will be joined on stage by Gabriel Ebert (Camille), Matt Ryan (Laurent), Judith Light (Madame Raquin), David Patrick Kelly, Jeff Still, Mary Wiseman, Glynis Bell, Alex Mickiewicz, Sarah Topham, and Ray Virta. The play opens officially on October 29th.
