CHANGE FOR KIDS’ 5TH ANNUAL BENEFIT

"SUPER CHEFS" BRINGS TOGETHER TOP CULINARY TALENT TO BENEFIT NEARLY 4,500 UNDERSERVED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

On Thursday, November 2nd, award-winning nonprofit Change for Kids hosted its 5th annual "Super Chefs" benefit at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. The event raised over $700,000 and featured 11 nationally-celebrated master chefs, who cooked to support Change for Kids, an education nonprofit that invests in NYC public elementary schools to bridge the opportunity gap for children in underserved communities.

Michelin-starred Chef Missy Robbins of the critically-acclaimed Lilia Ristorante, a New York Times Top Restaurant in 2016, crafted a dish for VIP guests. Chef Robbins has been named as one of Food and Wine's Best New Chefs, a James Beard Best Chef in NYC Semi-Finalist, and is frequently featured in Zagat, Tasting Table, New York Times, thrillist, and elsewhere.

The event also featured dishes by:

  • "Iron Chef America" and "The Next Iron Chef" contestant, Chef Jehangir Mehta of Graffiti and Graffiti Earth
  • James Beard Best Chef of NYC Semi-Finalist, Chef Justin Smillie of Upland
  • "Top Chef" contestant, Chef Leah Cohen of Pig & Khao
  • "Top Chef Masters" contestant, Chef Franklin Becker of Farmhand
  • Chef Ayesha Nurdjaja of Shuka
  • Chef Luis Jaramillo of Fifty
  • Chef Garrison Price of II Buco Alimentari
  • Chef Aliyyah Baylor of Make My Cake
  • Chef Chintan Pandya of Rāhi
  • Chef Felipe Donnelly of Colonia Verde

Hundreds of guests attended, including artist King Saladeen.  Guests raised over $115,000 from a live and silent auction and bid on live items, such as original artwork from King Saladeen and Debby Hymowitz. Stacey Griffith, SoulCycle Senior Master Instructor and author of Two Turns from Zero: Pushing to Higher Fitness Goals, energetically led the live auction.
