SHANTI BHAVAN’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY GALA

On Thursday, November 9, 2017, a gala commemorates the 20th anniversary of the SHANTI BHAVAN CHILDREN'S PROJECT and celebrating the summer release of Daughters of Destiny, an original Netflix docuseries chronicling the work Shanti Bhavan does to uplift children from India's lowest socioeconomic class. All proceeds go towards funding the phase one construction of a second Shanti Bhavan school in India. The event occured at The Bowery Hotel (335 Bowery, New York, NY 10003)

ABOUT SHANTI BHAVAN

The Shanti Bhavan Children's Project is a residential education program built to uplift children from India's lowest socioeconomic class. Our children come from families earning less than $2 a day, who have been trapped in poverty for generations. By giving these children an opportunity they would otherwise be denied—an education on par with their upper-class peers—they are able to compete on equal footing in India's white collar professional workplace. In this way, Shanti Bhavan is unique; while most non-profit educational models focus on short-term literacy goals, Shanti Bhavan offers 17 years of radical intervention.

The program has had unprecedented success. With a Shanti Bhavan education, our children are now being accepted into top 25 universities across India. Our college graduates work full-time at companies like Amazon, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, EY, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Mercedes Benz, and more. These graduates are now paying it forward, giving 20-50% of their salaries to their families, communities, and other children in need—creating a ripple effect that impacts thousands.
