GENNY UNVEILS NEW F/W18 COLLECTION

Genny's Creative Director Sara Cavazza Facchini kicked off Milan Fashion Week with the new Fall / Winter 2018 collection, inspired by Charlie Chaplin's legendary movie "The Circus," an intriguing combination of discipline and fun. "They'll always criticize you, speak of you, it'll be hard to meet someone who will like you as you are! So live, do what your heart tells you to do, life is like a play that does not allow testing: so sing, dance, laugh and live intensely every day of your life, before the curtain closes and the piece ends with no applause".
The renowned quote by Charlie Chaplin is the manifesto for Genny's catwalk show. The words of the seminal English moviemaker were chosen by Facchini to let women know they deserve extra time for themselves.

"As I have often repeated, before being an entrepreneur and creative director, I am a woman and mother. The thousand errands of women's daily lives put us in an endless spin. I feel I can tell women to believe in themselves despite prejudice, to be loyal to themselves, and to live their lives intensely, and why not, have fun! I would like to draw a breath of relief with them. There should always be a light-hearted moment in everyday life, and today I would like to think I am with women in this".

And in order to emphasize that message even further, these words were announced at the beginning of the show by Marco Bocci, a rising star in theatre, television and entertainment.

In the new collection, Sara Cavazza Facchini channels rigorous, linear pieces that are jazzed up by playful details such as macro polka dots and frisky short pants. The collection is an homage to the iconic uniforms of circus performers, such as lion tamers and trapeze artists. This makes for a collection that is eclectic and personal. Argyle motifs pepper the bodice of sleek jumpsuits and are rendered with embroideries on sparkling mini dresses. The hyper elegant attitude of tulle maxi dresses is softened by playful polka dots. Bags are semi circle clutches enriched with prints and exotic skins, while sock-like over-the-knee boots are worked in two-tone color combinations.
For Fall, Genny invites women to embrace fashion as a form of escapism and joie de vivre.
