MIAMI DINING OUT – APRIL/MAY 2018 EDITION

BEAKER AND GRAY

With a bounty of fresh ingredients from the sea and land and year round summer weather, Miami's foodie scene is as hot as its nightlife and beach scene. Whether exploring the artistic enclave of Wynwood or the chic SoFi district in South Beach, here are some of our favorite new eateries in the ocean front city that never seems to sleep.

As Wynwood has always been known for its artistic nod, new hotspot Beaker & Gray brings an artful approach to its globally inspired menu with Mediterranean and Latin influences. A perfect spot for brunch, dinner or late night bites, a mix of hipsters and other Wynwood cool kids come for the tasty and ambitious takes on global comfort food. Created by chef owner Brian Nasajon and bar manager/ owner Ben Potts who retained the area's warehouse aesthetic with the help of local design firm Saladino Design Studios to create an understated chic feel replete with industrial steel bar stools, exposed brick walls, and repurposed wood furnishings.

Experience a mélange of flavors in their brunch menu with unique tapas and sharing dishes such as the heirloom tomato salad with cilantro coulis and coconut sorbet or the chilaquiles with crispy yucca chips topped with pollo asada and a savory chipotle sauce. Other delectable crowd pleasers include the creamy shrimp and polenta with blue corn, bacon and pineapple, a waffle panini with pork rillette, gruyere and maple mustard, or an eggs benedict with wild mushrooms and queso fresco with a side of coffee glazed bacon. These brunch favorites pair perfectly with Potts' reimagined bespoke libations such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle- a new take on the classic Bloody Mary made with a fresh green tomatillo ginger and house pepper blend. If you are feeling ambitious opt for the 2 hour bottomless mimosas for only $30 before exploring the vibrant Wynwood neighborhood.

LOBSTER BAR SEA GRILLE

Known for creating upscale VIP food experiences, the glittering Lobster Bar Sea Grille is Buckhead Life Restaurant Group's first foray into Miami South Beach. Paying homage to the nautical theme the posh dining room resembles a luxury yacht with plush warm wood, art deco lighting fixtures and curved tiled archways.

Offering world class seafood, lobster, and steaks, diners can select your choice of prime seafood from their sprawling display. Other customer favorites include the Mediterranean octopus, lobster, and sea bass served with a sushi rice cake and tomato jam. The mastermind behind Lobster Sea Grille's delectable cuisine is executive chef Arturo Paz who brings a wealth of experience to the kitchen. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, his passion for cooking originated from his grandfather at an early age from learning everything there is to know about cooking and making recipes. For Paz, each dish is about creation and harmony, something he learned as an architect and sees cooking as the ultimate art form, "It's the only form of art that you can taste, smell, see, and feel."

Open nightly for dinner or Sunday Brunch, Lobster Bar Sea Grille also offers a twilight happy hour menu and a 3 course celebration menu for $49 from 5:30-7 pm.
