Adventurers Soar at Riviera Maya’s Selvatica Adventure Tribe

Most travelers would describe the Riviera Maya on Mexico’s balmy Caribbean coast as a destination filled with sun-drenched beaches and lazy snorkeling treks around exotic coral reefs. But, hidden in the jungle once inhabited by the mighty Mayans, is one of the Top 10 adventures in the world – Selvatica, The Adventure Tribe.

Literally translated, “jungle,” Selvatica is an adventure park like no other, providing guests with adrenaline pumping experiences. Centrally located about a half-hour drive from Playa del Carmen or Cancun, Selvatica holds a special spot in the Trip Advisor Hall of Fame, having earned the Certificate of Excellence more than six years in a row. Getting there is easy, as Selvatica offers round-trip transportation from local resorts, hotels, and centrally located “pick-up points” included as a part of its many packages.

Upon arriving, guests become part of a “tribe” that is safely chaperoned by an expert guide, offering them the ability to fully immerse in the adventure. Attractions include ten zipline circuits, Tarzania – The Human Roller Coaster, Superflight – The Super Man Zipline, a wild Jungle Coaster Ride, bungee jumps, four aerial Skywalk Bridges, and ATV tours on a blazing Polaris.

There are three tour options, starting with the all-day “Gimme All” package for patrons who want to experience everything the park has to offer. The 3-4 hour “Extreme Canopy” tour includes the zipline circuit, a swim in the private cenote – a natural underground pool, and Tarzania. The “Offroad Polaris” adventure allows the true thrill-seeker the opportunity to explore the depths of the jungle aboard a Polaris RZR buggy and also enjoy the zipline circuit, Skywalk bridges, the cenote, Tarzania, and a parachute jump experience. Each option includes a guide and all necessary safety equipment.

Authentic Mexican food and beverage options are available, as well as vegetarian meals. After their voyage into uncharted fun, guests can cool off and relax with a refreshing swim in the park’s private cenote with a zip line. The last activity of the day includes participating in the “Seed of Life” program where each guest plants a seedling to help restore the earth’s ecosystem and personally thank Mother Nature for a day well spent.
