Renowned luxury wedding brand Bridelux held its first ever USA Atelier last weekend at the InterContinental Barclay New York for over 750 guests, creating a wonderfully bespoke experience for couples and wedding industry professionals alike. With promises of luxury, elegance, and inspiration from the highest quality of brands not typically found at bridal shows, the event held on Sunday did not disappoint. Complete with a full array of luxury brands, wedding venues, and services, participants included Reem Acra, Monvieve, Ladurée, Louis XIII, Taj Hotels, Vivienne Westwood, Ceci New York, Colin Cowie and Rafanelli Events, among many others. A selection of British brands & venues also traveled to New York to showcase at the Atelier, such as Historic Royal Palaces’ Kensington Palace and the Tower of London, as well as florist Philippa Craddock and Claire Ptak of Violet Cakes, who served as the florist and cake maker to the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
From the moment of entry, guests were wowed by extravagant and picturesque installations, with stunning floral backdrops from Atlas Floral throughout. Beginning with a wonderland-like perennial design by Birch Event Design, attendees could not resist stopping in awe as they ascended the staircase to what many referred to as “bridal heaven.” Stopping to capture photos in every corner of the space, several highlights included a elaborate ice sculpture created by Okamoto Studio and a luscious floral lounge area by Adam Leffel Productions. Guests even snapped stunning shots in the bathrooms, which featured massive cloud-like arrangements of white hydrangeas cascading from the walls and garnishing every vanity and mirror again by Birch Event Design.
Also drawing attention as some of the event’s most Instagramable elements was the wearable art presented by some of the industry’s most respected fashion labels, including renowned custom wedding gown designer Suzie Turner, Reem Acra and Vivienne Westwood, which presented its Couture and Made-to-order collections, featuring key design notes from the atelier. Traditional tailoring techniques combined with historical and experimental pattern cutting create Westwood’s selection of sumptuous bridal gowns and cocktail dresses.
Alison Miller, Creative Director of Monvieve, which showcased its exquisite bridal veils said of the event, “Bridelux surpassed all my expectations. The brides that came through were lovely— thoughtful and engaging. Constructive in every sense, we’ve booked new appointments and are looking to follow up with many more. In support, every vendor brought so much to the table. Their spaces were exquisite with rarified talents, services and professionalism on display. It was an extraordinary afternoon—and I’m looking forward to the next event.”
Champagne flowed as guests mixed and mingled in the event’s main hall which centered around an beautifully designed stage and bar featuring live music from 45 Riots. Guests also indulged in a number of interactive elements, including personal makeup applications by Beautini, and a survey by Raffanelli Events in which brides to be learned what type of bride they are based on their wedding preferences.
Beyond the luxury installations and experiences provided by participating brands, the Bridelux Atelier also included talks hosted by some of the industry’s most coveted experts, including Royal Wedding florist Philippa Craddock and cake maker Claire Ptak, top wedding planners Colin Cowie and Bryan Rafanelli of Rafanelli Events and Ceci Johson of Ceci New York. The venue’s conference hall was filled to capacity as guests learned of the newest wedding trends and insider tips from the Royal Wedding cakemaker and florist.
“Our inaugural Bridelux Atelier in New York surpassed our wildest expectations. The luxury brands were keen to participate in a new concept experience and their faith fully paid off. Our attendance of just under 800 people is a record globally for any one day show we have produced,” said James Lord, CEO of Bridelux.
