SANDERLING RESORT: That Southern Escape

There's a special place one can go when needing luxury with a southern flare. The place is Sanderling Resort in Duck, North Carolina.

It may possibly be the one luxurious place that manages to find a balance between exclusivity and inclusivity. This is emphasized by how lodging is laid out.  Like the terminology in poker here at this unique resort there are "four of kind" when it comes to accommodations. 

For those looking for a cozy family getaway the North Inn will be the best to request as it not only most preferred by families and it also offers a resort pool specifically designed with families in mind that can be seen from the king and queen sized rooms. North Inn is also one of two lodgings that provides elevator access for its guests. The three remaining options for lodging are suites Beach House, South Inn, and Home Rentals. Each of these residing spaces is a favorite for various reasons. For the couple they may find The South Inn to be just for them. Those who appreciate architecture may find the Beach House to their liking as it is known for its décor fireplaces and its views of the ocean but does not offer elevator access. The South Inn however does offer elevator access along with its own unique views of the ocean and adult designed pool known for its tranquility.  

If it is about being able to accommodate both family and friends than the Home Rentals and its four options is the kind to request.  Its privacy allows everyone in attendance to feel as if they are the only ones there on the island providing that sense of luxury. The occupancy at the highest is 16 and the smallest at eight. The homes even have their own names such as Caffey and Evans. Each home has its own perks be it the view of the ocean, the individual décor or that one home offers its own elevator. The one thing that does tie each home together is that there is an outdoor shower and one house specifically has one designed for sand. Kitchens are stocked with china and utensils and living rooms and bedrooms throughout are filled with the most of modern technology. Spending time together as a group will be done in a relaxing way.

Four of kind is not exclusively for the accommodations.  It expands to the dining as well.  The Sandbar deck and the AAA Four Diamond Kimball's Kitchen are just two of the four restaurants that can be found at the resort. However all four restaurants are not open at the same time. During the winter season locally sourced food can be discovered at Lifesaving. The three meal a day restaurant with a laid back atmosphere, Lifesaving Station is open year round seven days a week, to provide a delicious meal along with a fine glass of wine. It is also the place to go to for breakfast.  The Beach House Bar is the place to go to for an evening drink and is open now until Columbus Day.

For the business meeting or a romantic night out Kimball's Kitchen will be the place for that with its tables adorned with white table cloths. Each restaurant providing the best in southern cuisine leaving no one hungry rather hungry for more and a breathtaking view of the Currituck Sound.

Beyond the resort there is so much to do and it begins when the Wright brothers defied the odds and took to the skies. This year marks 115 years since the Birthplace of Flight. Guests are welcomed to learn about this achievement and historical time by visiting the Kitty Hawks Kites at the Kitty Hawk Kites' Hang Gliding Training Center which has been in operation since 1974 in the Outer Banks.

There visitors can experience the first flight through the replica of the Wright brothers' 1902 Glider designed by the Wright Experience.  At the Outer Banks guests can stop by the Wright Brother's National Memorial Visitor Center and the National Historic Landmark.

To put it simply there are up to nine ways to spend time while vacationing. If it is swimming that's covered from the beach to the various pools throughout the resort. For the traditional fitness lover there is a gym located at the Northern Inn to break a sweat.  There's the Sanderling Spa for those needed a reprieve from life's stresses. There is kayaking or wakeboarding to name some of the water activities. If dry land is your speed there is golf, and yoga and horseback riding to pick from. 

Whether it's your wedding or that important meeting the resort has the ability to cater to your event. Support is there via a wedding planner or the right room to give that presentation be it large party of nearly 200 people or less it will be an event to remember.
