Times Square EDITION Hotel: A Chic and Whimsical New Addition

The Times Square EDITION Hotel is the latest, most luxurious addition to the Crossroads of the World. Ian Schrager, along with Marriott International, is officially introducing the first luxury hotel as well as the first Michelin star chef to Times Square. The hotel is aiming to bring locals back to the most touristy area of Manhattan with its chic dining experiences, the creation of a new form of cabaret theater and a complete reinvention of billboard art. Schrager, the famed co-founder of Studio 54 and the father of the boutique hotel space, tells a story with each of his properties. The latest hotel is already saying a tale, featuring culture, art, fine dining and whimsicality.

Arne Sorenson, President and CEO of Marriott International explained that this hotel is "an entirely new lens on Times Square. From an aerie above to the hubbub below, you can engage, observe or withdraw. The hotel is an oasis of sophistication brought to you through the insight of the incomparable Ian Schrager, my friend and partner. There is simply nothing like it."

Dive into oasis of entertainment in the busiest part of Manhattan, The Paradise Lounge. Spearheaded by the creators of House of Yes in Bushwick, the lounge will feature creative contemporary cabaret performances with all-around menu. The shows will be part theater and part performance art with talent across many disciplines including dance, voice, costume design and even magic.

This one-of-a-kind space which features the most immersive, colorful and kinetic lighting effects designed by Tony and Academy Award-winning Fisher Marantz of Studio 54 fame, inspired by a Lenny Kravitz video, as well as bespoke hand painted murals by Bosch and Dali. Perhaps the most spectacular element of the club is the full-blown production studio and control center that allows for live simulcasts and broadcasts both locally around the world, with a jumbotron outside of the building and a high definition digital screen on the stage.

Ian Schrager, the king of nightlife, believes that room services are going to be a thing of the past, said that "the Golden Age of Times Square elicited the feeling that anything was possible. The Times Square EDITION is the embodiment of this storied past, resurrected for the present and providing hope for the future of this most beloved neighborhood."

The first Michelin-starred chef ever in Times Square, John Fraser, is creating a culinary experience as you've never seen or tasted before. Inspired by classical French, Asian, and Latin fare, Chef Fraser has put his signature mark on the lobster veloute with truffle, and champagne float along with sweet potato baked in seaweed bread. The Terrace and Outdoor Garden spaces will serve more casual dining options and the Lobby Bar won't features finger food.

With palm trees and plants, you'll feel like you're in a secret garden on the hotel's expansive terraces which were inspired by the L'Orangerie at Jardin des Tuileries in Paris. Designed by Madison Cox, this indoor landscaping effort, featuring multi-level gardens in the sky, is perhaps the largest undertaking of its. The public space interiors with their rich woods, lush velvets, waxed leathers, polished marbles and smooth metals are combined to create a luxurious setting, providing an escape from the hustle and bustle just outside the hotel's doors.

The works of renowned photographers including Helen Levitt, Elliott Erwitt, Bruce Davidson, to name a few, are on display in the entryway to The Terrace. The photographs feature honest portrayals of "the real New York City," just another way for guests to gain a glimpse into the dynamic and differing parts of the city. The place will continue to house rotating photography and art exhibits by various well-known photographers and artists.

With its cozy yet chic spaces and personalized attention, the hotel feels intimate with its 400 rooms that feature light wood interior, sweeping views from floor to ceiling windows, Playbill imprinted soaps and high-end toiletries. From handpicked tiles and marble throughout the hotel, the project is a labor of love. You will be inspired to hit the gym seeing the incredible views from the fitness center.
