Argentian Designer Gaucho Brings a Taste of Buenos Aires to NYFW

Che Malambo, the powerhouse all-male Argentinian dance company that gained international acclaim on Broadway, opened the final presentation of the Runway 7 at New York Fashion Week schedule at a presentation for Gaucho – Buenos Aires. Their inspired, high-energy performance combined the precision footwork, rhythmic stomping, drumming and song for which the group is world renowned. Actor, model, and influencer Neels Visser opened the Gaucho – Buenos Aires show in the hottest look from the brand’s new Fall 2022 collection, a suede vest and black leather pant styled with a silk scarf and black leather bag. Highlights of the show, which included 26 looks, included a cognac brown suede jacket and fringe skirt ensemble styled with a black silk neck scarf and brown Quintana hat, a black quilted leather jacket for women shown with black leather biker shorts, a wool blended horse gaucho blanket and the brand’s best-selling, evergreen Lucky Bag. Following the presentation, Neels Visser held a live stream and interview with newly named Director of Design, the creative multihyphenate Lautaro Garcia de la Peña. The collection was inspired by how Argentina interacts with the world and the collection plays with influences that span history, culture, design, and place, weaving the strength, integrity, and resilience of a storied culture into each piece to create a new modern glamour rooted in timeless tradition.Unigender pieces include the wide-brimmed Quintana Hat in blue, black, sand, or brown wool; hand-hemmed silk scarves in a variety of prints, including iconic stallions and colorful cityscapes; and stylish, modern ponchos in natural alpaca and wool.
