The Six: A New Era of Luxury Wellness in Mayfair, London
The Six Redefines the Salon and Wellness Experience
Bespoke Beauty Treatments in London
Springtime in London arrives not only with blooming magnolias and lengthening days but with new energy—a call to reset, refresh, and rediscover. For those attuned to life’s finer rhythms, this season’s most exciting debut isn’t a fashion line or a fine dining concept, but a wellness destination of rare beauty and intention. Welcome to The Six.
Opened in March 2025, The Six redefines what a salon and wellness experience can be. Located at No. 6 Queen Street in the heart of Mayfair, this six-story haven for grooming, self-care, and serenity is a case study in architectural reverence and sensory sophistication. It’s a story of history reborn and design elevated—a place where every floor whispers its own version of luxury, and every detail exists to evoke a sense of belonging, beauty, and transformation.
Luxury Wellness Retreat: A Georgian Gem Restored with Purpose and Spirituality
The first thing to note about The Six is its pedigree. The building—a Grade II-listed townhouse dating back to the 1770s—sits proudly in a conservation area. Its stucco-fronted façade holds the kind of architectural language that’s rare and increasingly precious in today’s fast-paced London. Originally a private residence, the space had devolved into a series of commercial offices before Argent Design, led by the visionary Nicola Fontanella, was brought in to bring it home again—literally and spiritually.
“We were delighted to work on this exceptional property, “Our goal was to create an exquisite design that is practical. Every finish, every detail was carefully chosen to create a harmonious environment—one that respects the heritage of the building and blends it with contemporary design.”
Nicola Fontanella, Founder of Argent Design
That respect shows. Original moldings and cornices have been preserved and thoughtfully juxtaposed with textural modern elements: backlit shelving, fabric paneling for acoustic comfort, and a breathtaking Calacatta Verde marble reception desk that acts as both focal point and promise of what lies beyond.
Nicola Fontanella, CEO and Founder of Argent Design, has brought her signature vision to The Six, founded by internationally acclaimed hairstylist Marcos Verissimo. Housed within a beautifully restored six-story Georgian townhouse distinguished by its exquisite proportions, the design honors its original 18th-century grandeur. Every floor is thoughtfully designed to provide bespoke service, culminating in a private salon and an outdoor terrace overlooking Mayfair’s stunning rooftops.
The Six: Six Senses Elevated is a Luxury Wellness Experience
More than a salon, The Six is an experience—multi-layered, tactile, immersive.
“The Six client isn’t buying a product, they’re buying an experience… The textures, the light, the smell—everything that hits your senses is designed to make your time at The Six deeply memorable.”
Marcos Verissimo, Founder of The Six
Key features from each floor of The Six include:
Guests are welcomed in an elegant reception area, where the original paneling has been carefully restored. Decorative beaded detailing reminiscent of pearls adds a refined touch, complemented by a striking green Calacatta Verde marble reception desk, which is highlighted as the central pedestal. Thoughtfully incorporated backlit shelving and fabric paneling provide visual warmth and acoustic comfort. The existing cornices have been preserved, with new backwall paneling stopping just below to align with the architraves, ensuring a seamless architectural flow.
The ground floor is a cognac men’s grooming area that exudes sophistication with caramel-hued veneers, oak flooring, and stitched leather paneling. A coffered timber ceiling with mirrored detailing enhances the sense of depth, while woven bronze elements within backlit glass panels introduce a subtle and timeless texture. The space is enriched with stately Portoro marble and features bespoke barber chairs from Takara Belmont, ensuring an inviting and comfortable atmosphere.
The mid-floor, styling area is flooded with natural light from the beautiful French windows, it is designed to invoke a feel-good ambience. Walnut cabinetry, bespoke emerald-hued resin with a metal bronze inlay, showcases modern craftsmanship and seamlessly merges history with 18th-century cornice detailing, true to its origins. Functional details such as wide pull-out drawers, built-in charging stations, and coffee trays enhance the practical elegance of the space and comfort beyond!
The hair wash area, on the second floor, is designed with layered textures and unique finishes to create an inviting retreat, while the tone is highlighted with smooth ecru and linen finishes, which offer an elevated experience. Privacy screens crafted from soft fabrics enhance the space while also improving acoustics. The warm, inviting palette is carried through with polished plaster walls, travertine accents, and a light cream worktop. Beneath, a delicate rattan mesh detail adds subtle texture and privacy.
On the third and fourth floors, the treatment rooms provide a wellness, reset, and tranquility sanctuary, seamlessly integrating artwork within a calm atmosphere. Here, the architectural detailing remains a defining feature, interwoven with unexpected materials that invite curiosity. Bespoke wall finish, paired with a Serpeggiante marble basin, reinforces the contemporary and meets the authenticity of the building.
The top floor opens onto a serene courtyard terrace, complete with a lush green vertical wall, trellis features, and comfortable seating. Consistently integrating resin-filled paneling throughout, this space is designed for intimate gatherings, with a fully equipped dispense bar and elegant cabinetry—an inviting retreat for a small group to unwind in privacy. Even the cloakroom on the lower ground floor has been thoughtfully curated, featuring striking Fusion Black marble, walnut paneling, woven wallpaper, and wall sconces that echo the woven metal accents in the backwash area.
Art Meets Wellness: The Six Transforms Into a Cultural Space and Living Art Gallery
What truly sets The Six apart is its commitment to artistry, not just in design but in spirit. The space doubles as a platform for local and international creatives, with rotating exhibitions designed to inspire conversation and reflection. In this way, The Six becomes more than a salon; it becomes a cultural space, a gallery, a gathering point for aesthetic minds.
This approach aligns seamlessly with what we’ve previously explored in Resident Magazine's wellness series—the idea that modern self-care must go beyond products and pampering. Today’s luxury is deeply holistic. It lives at the intersection of artistry, introspection, and elevated experience.
Luxury Spa Experience in London: The Future of Wellness Has an Address
If wellness retreats are evolving—and they are—it’s because spaces like The Six are leading the way. This is not just where one goes to get a haircut or a facial. This is a luxury spa experience in London made to reconnect with oneself. To pause. To reflect. To feel beautiful in a place that itself is beautiful.
Whether it’s a subtle change of season or a more profound personal shift, The Six offers a haven for recalibration—one that respects the past, embraces the future, and centers us firmly in the now. In the lexicon of luxury, The Six isn’t a new chapter. It’s a whole new language.
