Lindsay Bardwil Metamorphic Solo Show: Lindsay Bardwil is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Montauk, New York. Born and raised in Manhattan before moving to the easternmost end of Long Island where she now resides full time. Now surrounded by the sea, her work is primarily inspired and a reflection of the quietude and peace of her environment. Her surroundings are not only her inspiration but her closest collaborator – much of her work features collected natural elements, foraged and carefully selected by the artist herself. Her broad range of work includes reflections on the abstract, surreal and expressionist disciplines of artistic endeavor.

Bardwil studied at Northeastern University and New York's Fashion Institute of Technology before beginning her artistic journey in 2010 working on a small collection of paintings which quickly garnered serious interest. Lindsay Bardwil's work is an exploration of our human self and the desire to exist harmoniously with the world that surrounds us. Her use of natural elements brings together rough, natural materials and translates the beauty of the earth – the miniscule, the grand, the ever-shifting noticeable evolution of our effects – into our cultural conversation through her artwork.

These collected items, including stones, sand and shells, are transformed into idyllic omens of the fleeting nature of our environment. Bardwil dares to remind us that the peace & comfort we find in the environment is a temporary one due to the nature of our modern existence. Her work is a reminder that this peace exists, if only for a moment, if only at once, and asks its audience to consider its potential permanence.

By incorporating these common elements in her work, Bardwil recognizes the innate connection with her audience – we all share this earthly Eden. The artist strives to remind the audience of nature's ordinary majesty, she seeks to inspire participation in a greater cause and encourage viewers to recognize the grandeur of connecting with nature. Her endless inspiration by the beauty and purity of her setting is explored through texture, medium and material. As vital as the environment is to her creative process, her work evokes the vitality of nature in the process of being human.
