Best Spots to Celebrate Bastille Day

Although the day is about the Bastille, it's not referred to as 'Bastille Day' in France, it's either called the Fête nationale or simply le quatorze juillet (the 14th of July).

Here are a couple of our favorite restaurants, and events you won't want to miss.

Le Zoo – Bal Harbour

This French brasserie from Stephen Starr not only offers a quaint interior seating salon but also al fresco seating in a palm tree-covered patio inside the Bal Harbour Shops. The menu is filled with selections of fruits de mer, fromages, salads, entrees, plats du jour, and desserts. Highlights include the steak tartare du parc, the duck confit, truffle pizza, and the bouillabaisse — all of which can be complimented by the extensive selection of wines.

Arnaud's – New Orleans

Located steps off of Bourbon Street in the heart of the French Quarter, Arnaud's offers classic Creole Cuisine and exemplary service in beautifully restored turn of the century dining rooms. Since its inception in 1918, Arnaud's has remained true to its traditions and courtesies.

Le Jardinier – Design District

Located in the Miami Design District, Le Jardiner boosts classic French technique to all of its dishes. Patrons can enjoy lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch, and happy hour indoors or in its tropical outdoor area. Menu highlights include spring pea and ricotta agnolottis with wild mushrooms and trio of pea and mint, and the whole lobster with marbled potatoes, fava beans, and coralline bisque.

Perle Restaurant – Pasadena

Chef Dean Yasharian takes French technique to the Los Angeles suburbs with Perle in Pasadena. The easygoing bistro serves classic French fare including steak tartare, escargots, and what may be the best tarte tatin in town.

The Little Door – Los Angeles

The Winner of the "Best Romantic Restaurant of LA" and the industry's favorite garden where families, friends or lovers amongst movie stars and luminaries of the world can enjoy simple & delicious dinners together. Convivial settings of four dining areas: the Patio, Winter Garden, Piano Room and Blue Room. Try the steak tartare with burnt onions and pickled egg yolks, and the filet mignon with celery root puree and pickled pearl onions.

Thursday, July 14th, 11am – 11:30pm (Storm the Bastille at 9pm)

Saturday, July 16th, 11am – 11:30pm
Sunday, July 17th, 11am – 8pm

Bastille Days Milwaukee's popular French festival and one of the nation's largest French-themed celebrations is held in Milwaukee's Cathedral Square Park. The free four-day bash attracts over 250,000 visitors annually who enjoy live music, an international marketplace, French and Cajun cuisine, and roaming busker entertainment.
