Taking Care Of Your Employees

Taking Care Of Your Employees Is Easier Than You Think. If you have your own company and are currently looking to hire the best employees then it all comes down to how you treat them. People won't want to work for you if you don't offer them the benefits that they deserve. If you constantly find your employees coming and going from your company then you will find yourself with a high employee churn rate. This can be detrimental for your company and if it starts to happen, you need to ask yourself some questions about how you are as a boss. Looking after your employees so this doesn't happen is easier than you think. Take a look at the article below for some key ideas and inspiration.

Be Understanding

One of the key things you can do is be understanding with your employees. If they ever come to you with a problem, make it clear and obvious to them that you are listening and taking in what they are saying. This could be anything from a work-related issue such as bullying or a home problem such as a relationship breakdown. They have had the courage to come to you to discuss their personal matters so the best thing you can do is show you care. You may even be able to offer them some advice such as EAP.  This gives employees plenty of benefits, including counseling.

You should show this same level of personal care and understanding when you're talking to them about their work, as well. Monty Cerf has spoken on the value of active listening, and how it can help you as a leader truly engage with your team, getting beyond the habit of listening out for the information that you think you're looking for, to unlock the true value of what your team members are saying.

Offer Incentives

You might want to offer your staff perks and incentives to stay with your company. This could be additional days off from the ones they already have. This can be a great incentive for those with families who value their time off. Think about how you can do this and what will work best for you and your employees.

Training & Promotions

Something else you can do as a great boss is offer your employees the chance to gain promotions. Nobody wants to be stuck in a dead-end job, you will find your employees leaving for other opportunities if you don't offer them something. This could be CPD or courses to further their career with your company. You might also like to have some friendly competition in the workplace and nominate two or more people for the chance of a promotion. Be careful with this, you don't want the whole office to end up hating one another.

Taking Care Of Your Employees With Hybrid Work Schedule

Finally, if you are trying to get back on track post-covid then you may be in talks with your employees regarding a hybrid working schedule. This seemed to work for a lot of companies when covid hit and made a lot of business owners realize that they could manage their companies from home. If you have employees coming through the door that have offered to work hybrid hours then take them up on this offer. Believe it or not, it saves your company money when your staff works from home.

We hope you found this article helpful and that it gave you some ideas on how you can better look after your employees.
