Disco, Purpose, and a Million-Dollar Goal: Young Musicians Unite Returns with Its 12th Annual Gala in Miami
April 15th, 2025 – Miami’s gala season is getting a glamorous—and deeply meaningful—upgrade. On Saturday, April 26, 2025, Young Musicians Unite (YMU) will host its 12th Annual Gala at the iconic Mana Wynwood, transforming the venue into a dazzling tribute to the golden age of disco with this year’s theme: Studio 54 Glamour. But beyond the glitter and groove lies a mission with lasting impact: raising over $1 million to fund free music education for more than 12,000 students across 75 Miami-Dade schools.
Since its founding in 2013, YMU has been a force in democratizing access to arts education—bringing music to classrooms and communities where it’s needed most. With over 25,000 students served to date, the organization continues to prove that music is not just a form of creative expression—it’s a tool for confidence, connection, and future opportunity.
A Night of Glamour with Purpose
Hosted by Kunya Rowley, the evening promises to be as entertaining as it is inspiring. Guests will be treated to live performances from YMU’s young musicians, showcasing jazz ensembles, rock bands, and a pulse-raising drumline, all anchored by hits like Stayin’ Alive and Dancing Queen. The lineup doesn’t stop there—expect disco, high fashion, and heartfelt storytelling as the night unfolds.
Leading the philanthropic charge is Kaisa Levine, founder of Fridababy and this year’s Gala Chair. Levine’s journey—from launching the baby care brand in 2007 with a $5,000 investment to selling it in 2021 for $500 million—is a powerful reminder of what can happen when innovation meets intention. Joining her will be Gabrielle Anwar, acclaimed actress of Burn Notice and Scent of a Woman, who will make a special appearance in support of the cause.
Empowering the Next Generation
Proceeds from the event will directly support YMU’s free music education programs—including music production, jazz and rock ensembles, and mentorship initiatives—that span some of the most under-resourced schools in the region. These programs not only equip students with artistic skills but also cultivate leadership, discipline, and a sense of belonging.
The organization’s approach is holistic: education through empowerment, with music as the medium.
