Lady Gaga & Dom Pérignon announced their latest campaign in a film created at the birthplace of the Champagne, unveiling a never-before-seen creative dialogue between the two artists. The pair's next chapter reveals a new aesthetic, realized through a passionate, shared vision on the act of creation.
Driven by two new art forms – a stunning visual performance and the highly anticipated Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013 – the new campaign follows one intention: elevation. On a relentless pursuit of harmony brought to life by work ethic, Dom Pérignon Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon and multi-hyphenate artist Lady Gaga showcase that their boundless creativity is a fruit of their shared creative labor.
The Collaboration (historical piece)
Since 2021, Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga have fused their two disparate worlds in an unprecedented collaboration. The campaign began with a shared desire to break new ground, with inspiration stemming from a creative force that drives both Lady Gaga and Dom Pérignon. After celebrating the power of creative freedom in chapter one, now, the two have since set out to explore the importance of the work behind their creative processes – emphasizing their common ambition of creative labor.
For Dom Pérignon, creating a Vintage is a perpetual quest of harmony. Chaperon states, "Creating is about taking risks, making commitments, and accepting vulnerability." For the known-risk taker Lady Gaga, a desire to dare, cross boundaries, and experiment with new art forms is what drives her iconic work. In this continued partnership, Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga connect in approach to their respective crafts, united by a dedicated and patient pursuit of harmony.
The campaign film spotlights an artistic performance, born from the Abbey at Hautvillers and inspired by all its grandeur. The film begins fittingly where it always begins for Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga, at work: in the vineyards for Dom Pérignon, at the piano for Lady Gaga. The melody elevates, shadows shift, and the performance transcends – classical dancers envelop the Abbey and move to the rhythm of Gaga's notes.
Made of contrasts, as all Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga's collaborations, the film connects tradition and modernism, intimacy and grandiose, shadows and lights, to reveal their close connection between art, music, and dance.
"When you look at pictures of the abbey, its cloister, the traces of centuries engraved in the stone," says Lady Gaga. "You can feel that dedication that must have animated generations of monks that lived and worked her. It is truly special and inspirational place."
To realize the vision of this campaign, Lady Gaga and Dom Pérignon worked with three artists: Photographer and Master of Light, Mario Sorrenti / Composer and Campaign Director Woodkid (Yoann Lemoine) / Choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013
After nearly ten years of maturation, the experience of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2013 reveals the Maison's sought-after harmony sculpted by time, in a rare late-harvest vintage. As one of only two late harvest vintages in the past two decades, Vintage 2013 spotlights a fundamental aspect of the champagne, namely taking such care in maturation time for the ultimate expression of the year.
Its creation draws parallels between the collaboration with Lady Gaga, making it the emblem of the new campaign's disciplined labor. As a result, Vintage 2013 is a tribute to the unique and challenging climate of that year, showcasing the character with a delicate balance of flavors and aromas that are sure to delight even the most discerning of palates. A creative element comes into play that elevates the different flavors, honing these contracts into a complex, delicate, and classic Dom Pérignon Vintage marked by an elegant clarity.
About Dom Pérignon
In 1668, a young Benedictine monk, Dom Pierre Pérignon, was appointed cellarer and procurator at the Abbey of Hautvillers, overlooking Champagne. With an innovative mind and hard-working spirit, Dom Pierre Pérignon gave his life to perfectionate vine-growing and winemaking, on a quest for the "best wine in the world."
Dom Pérignon's vision strives towards harmony as a source of emotion. Harmony in which its aesthetic and sensory values are played out: precision, intensity, touch, minerality, complexity, completeness, a way of embracing and grasping each note. Dom Pérignon can only be produced from the harvest of a single year. This commitment is absolute. To orchestrate its vintages, Dom Pérignon has the widest access to grapes selected from all 17 Grands Crus of Champagne and the legendary Hautvillers Premier Cru.
