Asia Fashion Collection FW25: Celebrating Emerging Asian Designers at NYFW

New York Fashion Week serves as a global stage for designers to push creative boundaries, and the Asia Fashion Collection (AFC) continues to solidify its presence as a vital platform for emerging Asian talent. Returning for its 12th annual showcase, AFC’s Fall/Winter 2025 presentation featured five visionary brands, each bringing a distinct cultural perspective and innovative approach to design.

A Platform for Emerging Talent

Organized by Vantan and PARCO Co., Ltd., the Asia Fashion Collection is an incubation project that discovers and nurtures rising designers from across East Asia. Each year, a rigorous selection process culminates in a final runway presentation at New York Fashion Week, offering these designers an opportunity to gain international recognition. This season’s showcase brought together creative forces from Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, all of whom had previously won AFC’s Tokyo preliminary competition.

The Designers and Their Collections

LITTLE BEDROOM by Sora Komatsu (Japan)
With a brand philosophy of "Geek Culture Strikes Back!", LITTLE BEDROOM merges street fashion with high-concept design, incorporating influences from internet culture, anime, manga, and video games. For FW25, the collection, titled Foundation, reinterprets traditional Japanese techniques with a modern lens, creating a line that bridges nostalgia and contemporary fashion.

YOUSUKE HAGA by Yousuke Haga (Japan)
Inspired by the solitary serenity of nighttime city walks, Night Hawks is a deeply personal collection that reflects Haga’s affinity for quiet introspection. The designs juxtapose urban decay with opulence, incorporating rich decorative elements and experimental textiles that blur the line between structure and fluidity.

BILL BILL by Kouki Sera & Kotarou Kawamura (Japan)
The Colorless Bible collection explores the idea of rewriting rigid societal norms through fashion. Utilizing exaggerated silhouettes reminiscent of animated storytelling, BILL BILL employs movement and monochromatic palettes to invite the audience to imagine their own colors and narratives within each garment.

MEG KIM by Meg Kim (South Korea)
A fusion of romantic masculinity and utilitarian workwear, Run Wild reinterprets archival pieces from Meg Kim’s past collections, incorporating washed-color fabrics, vintage brass buttons, and meticulous tailoring. The collection draws inspiration from the untamed energy of a horse, symbolizing freedom and continuous artistic evolution.

PCES by Yu Chi Lee, Chih Yun Chang & Bruno Hayon Chung (Taiwan)
Exploring the philosophical relationship between life and death, PCES FW25 integrates traditional elements with contemporary design. The collection reflects an infinite cycle of rebirth, blending classic silhouettes with modern fabric manipulation techniques, emphasizing the duality of the old and the new.

A Judging Panel of Industry Leaders

The collections were evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges, including WWD Japan Editor-in-Chief Kaname Murakami, renowned fashion buyers Ren Osawa (Midwest) and Kohei Hashimoto (Isetan Mitsukoshi Re-Style Co., Ltd.), as well as influential designers and executives shaping the Asian fashion landscape. Their insights and expertise provide invaluable guidance to the emerging talent showcased at AFC.

Fostering the Future of Asian Fashion

Since its inception, the Asia Fashion Collection has played a pivotal role in introducing rising Asian designers to the global fashion scene. By providing an international platform at New York Fashion Week, AFC not only amplifies these designers’ voices but also broadens the narrative of Asian fashion on a global scale. As the industry continues to evolve, initiatives like AFC serve as a crucial bridge, connecting emerging talent with an ever-expanding audience eager for fresh, innovative perspectives.
