Istituto Marangoni Miami’s “Volare” Fashion Show Soars into Palm Court with Design District Scholarship Launch
In a city rapidly establishing itself as a global epicenter for fashion and design, Istituto Marangoni Miami is leading the charge with “Volare”, its second annual fashion show, set to take flight on May 15 at 8:30 PM in the Palm Court of the Miami Design District (MDD). This year’s show is more than a presentation of student collections—it’s the launchpad for a new educational initiative that could redefine the path to design excellence for one of Miami’s most promising young talents.
The evening will unveil not only the final collections of IMM’s top fashion design students but also introduce the IMM x Miami Design District Scholarship Fund, a full-tuition award—valued at $162,300—for a graduate of Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH) pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design at IMM.
A Runway That Reflects Ambition and Aspiration
The show’s title, Volare—Italian for “to fly”—sets the tone for a production that draws inspiration from the spirit of elevation and creative freedom. This year’s student collections promise to explore bold ideas, meticulous craftsmanship, and avant-garde forms, each piece reflecting months of immersive study and personal transformation.
“This show is not just about the designs our students create but also about celebrating the boundless creativity and ambition they bring to the industry. Volare is a celebration of the future, where innovation, craftsmanship, and inspiration all take flight on the runway.”
Hakan Baykam, President of Istituto Marangoni Miami
A Partnership Rooted in Opportunity
The event also underscores a shared commitment to nurturing homegrown talent. As the official partner of this year’s show, the Miami Design District plays a central role in amplifying the fashion-forward spirit of the event and making long-term investments in education.
“Supporting this scholarship alongside Istituto Marangoni Miami is an investment in the future of fashion, creativity, and the cultural fabric of our city,” said Craig Robins, CEO and President of Dacra. “Miami Design District has always been a place where culture, innovation, and talent come together, and supporting the next generation of designers through education is a natural extension of that vision.”
Applications for the IMM x MDD Scholarship Fund will open immediately following the show. Additionally, 100% of ticket proceeds from the evening will go toward supporting the scholarship—cementing the event not just as a cultural moment, but as a philanthropic one.
Elevating the Experience
In true Miami fashion, the evening promises an immersive blend of sensory experiences. A live performance by the Miami Symphony Orchestra will accompany the runway, setting the emotional tone and energy for the evening. Collaborations with Freedom Models and Godina Worldwide Team ensure that everything from casting to hair and makeup reflects the high standards of a professional show, giving student designers a platform that mirrors the global runways they’re preparing to enter.
Fashion with Intention
For IMM, Volare is more than an annual showcase—it’s a reflection of the school’s values: creative rigor, inclusivity, and innovation. And for the Miami Design District, it’s a reaffirmation of the neighborhood’s role not just as a destination for high fashion and contemporary art, but as an incubator for what’s next.
As IMM and MDD continue to deepen their partnership, Volare marks a pivotal step in shaping the future of Miami fashion—one that blends education, creativity, and community impact into a single, soaring evening.
