Everlast Makes Its Runway Debut at Miami Swim Week 2025 with Emerging Designer Capsule Showcase
Where Heritage Meets High Fashion: Everlast Unveils Design-Forward Future at Miami Swim Week – The Shows
At Miami Swim Week® – The Shows 2025, Everlast®—a brand synonymous with athletic grit and cultural endurance—takes an unexpected yet fitting turn: the runway. On Saturday, May 31 at 7:30 PM, the iconic label will host its first-ever Emerging Designer Competition, a bold new initiative blending Everlast’s storied past in swimwear and boxing with the next generation of global design voices. The event will unfold at the Mondrian South Beach Hotel, bringing together innovation, legacy, and fashion’s future.
A Return to Swimwear Roots
While best known today for its boxing pedigree, Everlast’s origins began in swimwear. Founded in 1910 by Jacob Golomb, a Bronx tailor’s son, the brand originally offered durable swimsuits meant to “last forever.” It wasn’t until 1917, when boxer Jack Dempsey requested high-performance training gear, that Everlast shifted into the boxing arena—cementing its place in the world of sport.
“This competition celebrates our heritage—from our beginnings in swimwear in 1917, to our evolution into boxing and becoming a global sporting goods brand. As part of this next chapter, we’re proud to announce the opening of our flagship store in Miami in 2026.”
Everlast Representative
Now, more than a century later, Everlast reclaims its swimwear legacy with a fashion-forward twist that honors its past and champions the future.
The Designers: Five Visions, One Shared Spotlight
Handpicked for their distinctive perspectives and artistic edge, the five emerging labels selected for this runway debut are:
LeLINZI
Kene Kaya
MERC Swim
Electric Picks
Sovereign Society Couture
Each designer worked closely with the Everlast® creative team, drawing inspiration from the brand’s historic archive and legendary boxing matches—Ali vs. Sonny Liston (1964), “The Fight of the Century” (1971), “Thriller in Manila” (1975), and “Rumble in the Jungle” (1974). Through custom Everlast mood boards and design briefs, the finalists translated these cultural touchstones into exclusive capsule swimwear collections, each merging their aesthetic with Everlast’s performance-forward DNA.
Fashion’s Fight Night: A Legacy Reimagined
Themes of resilience, strength, and discipline permeate the showcase—echoing Everlast’s history not just as a brand, but as a symbol of athletic and cultural evolution. The designers were evaluated not only on creativity, but on how intuitively they channeled these values into wearable, future-facing design.
For Everlast, this initiative is more than a runway moment—it’s a shift toward reengaging with its style-conscious origins, introducing a new narrative that bridges function and fashion, tradition and reinvention.
Everlast and Miami: A Natural Fit
This Miami Swim Week debut marks more than just a runway activation.
