Breva Invites New York to the Beach—Brasserie-Style

June 16th, 2025 – Brighton Beach, long revered for its timeless boardwalk charm, gains a new layer of culinary sophistication this summer with the return of Breva’s oceanfront patio and the launch of fresh seasonal programming. Operated by Apicii Hospitality and helmed by Executive Chef Travis McGinty, Breva now offers a full sensory experience, merging coastal ambiance with modern brasserie cuisine, live music, and a playful drinks program that reflects the neighborhood’s Eastern European roots.

With a 110-seat patio just steps from the sand and a menu that balances seaside indulgence with chef-driven refinement, Breva is positioning itself as Brooklyn’s go-to destination for elevated summer dining without leaving the city.

A Coastal Brasserie with Summer in Its DNA

Chef McGinty—whose background includes stints at Michelin-starred Forgione and work alongside Top Chef winner Harold Dieterle—has curated a summer menu that’s approachable yet layered, designed to suit everything from casual beach bites to celebratory gatherings.

Starters set the tone with dishes like East and West Coast Oysters served with a smoked vodka cocktail sauce (MP), Caviar Tots with crème fraîche ($24), and Lobster Knuckles “Escargot Style” in a pernod-butter sauce ($26). For mains, the Poached Black Bass ($36) offers a lighter coastal note, while heartier fare like the Black Angus Steak Frites ($48) with chimichurri and a house-sauced Double Cheeseburger ($24) rounds out the menu’s comfort-forward edge.

The “Book of Vodka” and Other Liquid Moments

Breva’s beverage menu speaks to its setting and heritage. A centerpiece of the program is its 75-bottle “Book of Vodka”—a nod to the neighborhood’s Eastern European community—each bottle accompanied by house-made fruit compote and a seltzer chaser in keeping with local tradition.

Signature cocktails are crafted with equal care. Highlights include the Hibiscus Margarita ($14), the flame-finished Flame of Love martini ($16) made with oloroso sherry and flamed orange peel, and the rye-based Brooklyn ($15) with dry vermouth, Luxardo, and Bigallet China-China. For guests with a preference for precision, the Martini My Way ($17) offers a customizable martini experience tailored tableside.

Le Plage Fridays and Jazz-Filled Sundays

Seasonal programming adds rhythm to the menu. Le Plage de Brighton, a Summer Friday happy hour series, runs weekly from 3 to 7 p.m. through Labor Day, transforming the patio into a breezy social scene with roaming spritz carts, beach-inspired bites, and live music. It’s an ode to aperitivo culture—sun-soaked and seaside—with a Brooklyn twist.

Come Sunday, things slow down with Sunday Jazz Brunch, where local musicians accompany a relaxed menu of coastal classics. Think Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with yuzu curd ($17), a Wild Mushroom Omelette ($19), and a Skirt Steak and Eggs plate ($32) with crispy potatoes. Brunch cocktails are equally tuned to the mood, with a Pick-Me-Up Bloody Mary ($18) and a Shrimp Mary ($23) crowned with a colossal shrimp. Traditional toasts—sangria, mimosas, and bellinis—are available alongside the house-crafted list.

Located at 3145 Brighton Fourth Street, just a short walk from Coney Island and easily accessible by subway, Breva balances its New American identity with a sense of place. The 100-seat indoor dining room features soaring brick arches and floor-to-ceiling windows, while a 20-seat bar and a subterranean wine vault double as a private dining room for parties of 16–20.

Open Wednesday through Friday from noon to 10 p.m., and weekends from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Breva welcomes both weekday wanderers and weekend revelers alike.
