Little Lighthouse Foundation’s 2025 Gala Brings Rio to the Design District
On March 15, 2025, Miami's Jungle Plaza pulsed with energy, rhythm, and purpose as the Little Lighthouse Foundation (LLF) hosted its annual Hearts & Stars Gala—this year themed Carnaval do Brasil. The high-profile soirée was more than just a glittering night of music, food, and cocktails. It was a spirited showcase of Miami’s philanthropic heart, complete with celebrity performances, gourmet indulgences, and a meaningful mission to support underserved children and families.
A Night of Music, Movement, and Miami Magic
Emmy Award-winning WPLG-Local 10 anchor Jenise Fernandez led the evening’s festivities as over 1,200 guests swayed under a billowing Feira Tent—a nod to Brazil’s legendary street markets. The tent served as a technicolor canopy for the evening’s explosive live performance by hip-hop legend Ja Rule, whose set brought the crowd to its feet and marked one of the night’s most unforgettable moments. DJ Pietro, spinning infectious rhythms throughout the evening, kept the tempo high and the dance floor full.
Cocktails with a Caipirinha Twist and Culinary Stars on the Scene
Guests sipped Brazilian-inspired cocktails in the Nossa Caipirinha Lounge, with bar offerings that read like a luxury liquor lineup: Casamigos, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Amber & Opal Whiskey, Penelope Bourbon, Chinola, Askur Gin, The Tank Brewing Co., Tita Italia sparkling selections, LaCroix, and Icelandic Glacial Water all flowed freely.
The culinary curation was no less impressive. Attendees indulged in bites from some of South Florida’s top restaurants, including: Red the Steakhouse, STK Steakhouse, Paperfish, Pubbelly Sushi, Andrés Carne de Res, Dolce Mio, Casa Matilda, Joey’s Wynwood Cafe, Sagrado, Oakberry Açaí, Delicious Catering, & B&B Cappuccino.
For those with a taste for the extraordinary, VIP guests were treated to the luxurious Calvisius Caviar by Tita Italia, lending an elevated touch to the culinary experience.
Honoring Miami Icons and Philanthropic Trailblazers
This year’s Shining Light Award went to none other than Udonis Haslem, Miami Heat legend and community leader, whose ongoing commitment to philanthropy continues to inspire. Renee Cascarina was named Volunteer of the Year, applauded for her tireless dedication to the foundation’s mission.
The night also included a touch of official recognition. Miami-Dade County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins presented a proclamation designating March 15, 2025, as Little Lighthouse Foundation Day—a formal acknowledgment of the organization's transformative impact on the community.
Glamour, Generosity, and a Gala with Purpose
Throughout the night, guests entered raffles totaling over $55,000 in exclusive prizes. Highlights included:
Hard Rock Bet Florida Sports & Pearl Jam Packages
A luxe Miami Lifestyle Package featuring offerings from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Pegasus Race, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sexy Fish, E11EVEN, DJ Academy by Aloona, Miami Open, and more.
LLF Honorary Gala Chairs Harley Lippman and Daniel Krizen were recognized for their vision and generosity, which helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for LLF programming. Their leadership helped power the gala’s momentum—and its mission.
Production That Dazzles, With a Cause That Resonates
Behind the scenes, the award-winning Live it Productions International produced the immersive experience. Known for producing high-profile global events like the 2012 London Olympic Closing Ceremony, Los Premios MTV, and the ESPYS, their creative fingerprints were all over this spectacular Miami moment.
Ultimately, the Hearts & Stars Gala 2025: Carnaval do Brasil was more than a party. It was a movement. One that celebrated community, championed children, and reminded guests that giving back can—and should—be done in high style.
