Banyan Tree Bimini: A New Era of Luxury in the Bahamas
Bimini has long been known as an escape for those seeking serenity just beyond the Miami skyline, but with the arrival of Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences, this pristine island is set to redefine luxury living in the Caribbean. Developed by Rockwell Island Development Group (RIDGE) and helmed by Rafael Reyes, this elite enclave pairs world-class design with an unparalleled hospitality experience. I had the pleasure of personally touring this remarkable project, witnessing firsthand the refined vision coming to life on Rockwell Island.
A Seamless Journey to Paradise
The day began at Opa Locka Executive Airport, where private travelers are welcomed with effortless departures via Embassair. A swift 45-minute flight brought us directly to North Bimini’s seaplane base, where we were whisked away in Mokes—the island’s chic open-air vehicles—to Banyan Tree Bimini. The convenience of this journey underscores one of the resort’s key appeals: seamless accessibility. Within 30 minutes of leaving Miami, guests can find themselves immersed in a sanctuary of turquoise waters and powdery sands.
A Masterpiece in the Making
Upon arrival, I was introduced to the master plan development at an exquisite beachfront villa, where the integration of architectural brilliance and natural beauty was immediately evident. Oppenheim Architecture, known for their poetic minimalism, has curated a design philosophy that blends seamlessly into Bimini’s landscape. Every residence and hotel villa harmonizes with the shifting hues of sky, water, and sand—creating a timeless retreat that feels both modern and deeply rooted in the environment.
Sales for the resort’s 54 waterfront residences have already commenced, with the first five expected for delivery in early 2025. With prices starting at $3.5 million, these custom homes boast private docks, expansive indoor-outdoor living spaces, and exclusive beach access. Owners also have the opportunity to place their properties into Banyan Tree’s managed rental program, ensuring effortless ownership with five-star hospitality services at their disposal.
A Vision of Exclusive Indulgence
The tour continued with a hard-hat site visit, where residences in various stages of construction provided a glimpse into the meticulous craftsmanship behind each home. Beyond the residences, the Banyan Tree Bimini master plan extends to a 50-key five-star hotel, the Bonito Beach Club, and, in its second phase, a deepwater superyacht marina, an 18-hole private golf course, and a members-only clubhouse.
“This project has always been about bringing together the world’s best minds to create something truly extraordinary. Bimini is a hidden gem, and we are crafting an experience that will elevate this island to new heights.”
Rafael Reyes, Owner of Rockwell Island Development Group
Bonito Beach Club: Bimini’s Newest Exclusive Retreat
A standout from my visit was Bonito Beach Club, the latest venture from the team behind Bonito St Barth and Juvia Group. Set along Rockwell Island’s pristine shores, this Mediterranean-inspired escape is the social heart of Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences.
With private cabanas, VIP service, and beachfront lounges, the club blends effortless luxury with island charm. Guests can arrive via yacht or tender services, enjoy weekend wellness programs, and unwind with world-class hospitality.
At its core, Bonito Beach Club offers a culinary experience rooted in fresh, locally sourced seafood, expertly crafted by Juvia Group.
Reserved for homeowners and members, this exclusive enclave is set to become a premier Caribbean destination.
An Exclusive Sanctuary for the Discerning Traveler
Beyond the private residences and hotel accommodations, Banyan Tree Bimini offers an unparalleled suite of amenities. Owners automatically gain membership to The Sanctuary Club, providing privileged access to Banyan Tree’s global portfolio of luxury resorts. The upcoming seaplane terminal, developed in partnership with Tropic Ocean Airways, will further enhance connectivity, establishing Bimini as the most accessible and elite getaway in the region.
In a move that cements its long-term commitment, RIDGE has also played a pivotal role in the redevelopment of South Bimini International Airport, securing an $80 million investment that will facilitate direct commercial flights from major U.S. and European markets.
The Future of Luxury in the Bahamas
With its commitment to architectural excellence, world-class service, and a seamless fusion of natural beauty and modern luxury, Banyan Tree Bimini is poised to become one of the Caribbean’s most coveted destinations. As I concluded my tour and boarded the return flight to Miami, one thing was clear—this is not just another luxury resort. It is a vision realized, a new chapter in Bimini’s legacy, and an invitation to experience the extraordinary.
