Top 10 Best Gold Farms In WoW Classic

Farming gold remains one of the most important yet challenging activities in WoW Classic. No matter which version of the game you play or what class you prefer, gold is always in demand, funding all your necessary purchases from consumables and mounts to gear and profession level-ups.

In this article, we're sharing ten of the best gold farms to help you build up your WoW Classic gold reserves. We won't be covering ultra-rare big-ticket items that take hundreds of hours of grinding and pure RNG luck, instead, focusing on steady, reliable farms that don't require much effort and can be done even if you don't have tons of time to spare.

Best WoW Classic Gold Farms

Felcloth

First on our list, Felcloth is a highly sought-after material used in various high-end crafting recipes, making it one of the most steady and profitable farms in Classic.

You can get it in Felwood—specifically in Jaedenar, northwest of Irontree Woods, and in the mountains west of Emerald Sanctuary. It drops from Jadefire mobs, which are usually level 50-54, meaning you can start farming as early as level 50. It's a great way to grind some XP while stacking up valuable materials.

Besides Felcloth, you'll also get Runecloth, a solid chance at Traveler's Backpacks, and various BoE drops that sell well at the Auction House. There's also a chance to loot Demonic Runes—they can't be sold but are still incredibly useful for casters.

Essence of Fire

Essence of Fire is a highly valuable crafting material that always sells well.

The best place to farm is right in the middle of Un'Goro Crater, where you'll also have a chance to pick up Elemental Fire and Heart of Fire—both of which add even more value to your farm. The mobs you're looking for are Scorching Elementals and Living Blaze. They're spread out across the mountains in large numbers, so you'll never run out of targets. This makes for a steady and reliable gold farm, plus a decent leveling spot if you come here around level 54. Also, keep an eye out for dirt piles on the ground—they can contain soil, which you can sell at the Auction House for a little extra gold.

Essence of Water

For this one, head over to Felwood, specifically Irontree Woods, and farm Toxic Horror mobs. Your main gold source will be Essence of Water, but you'll also have a chance to pick up Elemental Water, Traveler's Backpacks, and some highly valuable BoE items like Axe of the Deep Woods, Eye of Flame, Hammer of the Northern Wind and others that can sell for hundreds of gold.

Essence of Earth

Our next Essence material can be farmed in Silithus, specifically in the top-left corner of the map. The mobs you're looking for are Desert Rumblers. While they're level 56-58, they mostly deal melee damage, so you can AoE them down pretty quickly. On top of the Essence, they can also drop Solid Stones, which can net you some extra coins at the Auction House.

Living Essence

This one drops from Irontree Wanderers and Irontree Stompers in Felwood's Irontree Woods—the same spot where you farm Essence of Water, which means you can combine multiple Felwood farms to save time and maximize your efficiency. Besides the Essence, these mobs also drop Traveler's Backpacks, various BoEs, and a ton of herbs that sell pretty quickly for a nice price.

Winterfall Firewater

Winterfall Firewater is a highly sought-after raid consumable that buffs melee attack power, so you can always expect high demand and a good price on the Auction House.

To farm this item, head to Winterspring and target the following mobs:

  • Winterfall Shaman and Winterfall Ursa (near Everlook)

  • Winterfall Pathfinder (west Winterspring)

  • Winterfall Den Watcher

These mobs are high-level and can heal themselves, so make sure to interrupt their healing casts and be careful not to pull too many at once. While farming the Firewater, you can also get Winterfall E'ko, but you'll need to do the "Winterfall E'ko" quest and carry Cache of Mau'ari in your inventory to loot it.

Turtle Farm

This is a great skinning farm located in Tanaris. The mobs you'll be after—Steeljaw Snapper and Surf Glider turtles—can be found along the coastline, especially in the northernmost part of the region. Most gold will be coming from Thick Leather and other skins, but there's also a chance to loot Golden Pearls from Big-Mouth Clams, which drop not only from the turtles but also from other sea creatures along the coastline. The mobs aren't very dangerous and can be easily AoE farmed, especially as a Mage.

Devilsaur Leather

This is another skinning farm, but this time, it's a bit more challenging—you'll need at least 290 Skinning skill and a higher level because the mobs we're targeting are Elites, averaging around level 55. We're hunting for Devilsaurs, which can be found in large numbers all around Un'Goro Crater. If you're leveled up enough, taking down the dinos won't be a problem. Just make sure to skin your kills as quickly as possible—this is a popular farming zone, and some players might ninja-skin your mobs, so it's better to get your loot as soon as the mob is down.

Lasher Farm

To make this farm as efficient as possible, it's recommended to do it on a character with the Herbalism profession so you can gather herbs along the way for extra profit. Class-wise, any DPS character will work, but it's fastest on a Mage or Paladin since they can do large AoE pulls.

The farm takes us to Dire Maul East to hunt for Whip Lashers. They usually roam in packs, so it's best to use AoE attacks on them. The loot you'll get includes herbs—these mobs have a chance to drop almost every herb in the game, and by the end of each run, your bags will be full, with a nice income to show for it. Overall, it's a pretty straightforward farm, but be careful not to pull those big mobs patrolling around the area as they do a lot of damage and can quickly ruin your farm.

Crusader Farm

Wrapping up our list is Formula: Enchant Weapon - Crusader. This item allows you to enchant weapons and occasionally get great buffs. Depending on the phase and the realm you're on, this little gem can sell for thousands of coins.

The mob we'll be farming is the Scarlet Spellbinder, located in Western Plaguelands. The drop rate for the Crusader recipe is very low, but even if you don't get it, you won't be wasting your time because these mobs also drop Runecloth and a bunch of scrolls and potions, like Major Healing Potion or Scroll of Agility, all of which can be sold for a good price.
