For over a decade, Mitch Jones has watched livestreaming turn from a relatively niche corner of the internet into a global entertainment industry. Now, after years of creating content in front of the camera, Jones is developing original productions that bring together gaming, live entertainment, creator culture, and real-time audience interaction.
Jones first built his following during the early years of Twitch through World of Warcraft streams, where his energetic personality and direct relationship with viewers helped establish a dedicated community. As livestreaming grew in popularity, however, he experimented with new formats, including early IRL content alongside his late friend and fellow creator Byron “Reckful” Bernstein. Today, at a time when livestreaming has become more competitive and professionalized, he believes there is still room to create experiences that feel different from the standard streamer setup.
Based out of his Los Angeles production studio, Jones and his team are developing high-production live entertainment that combines the scale and presentation of television with the spontaneity of livestreaming. Recent projects have included interactive game shows featuring established creators, professional sets, LED displays, stage lighting, and broadcast-quality production equipment. Unlike traditional television, these productions are designed with the online audience in mind from the beginning, giving viewers opportunities to interact with the show as it unfolds.
For Jones, the production process involves more than just appearing on camera. He is involved in every step of the creative development and execution of his projects, working directly with the people responsible for bringing his ideas to life.
“I work very closely with my team and overlook everything they’re doing, especially with specific ideas and planning,” Jones says. This hands-on involvement is important as Jones moves toward producing larger and more ambitious programming. Instead of treating major livestreams as standalone events, he is now developing original concepts that will become a regular part of his content strategy. Jones is currently working on an original version of a game that has been part of his life since childhood, giving him an opportunity to combine a personal connection to gaming with the larger-scale production style he is developing.
“We are actively working on producing our own version of a video game I’ve been playing since I was a kid and I can’t wait to stream it and show the fans what we’ve been putting our effort into,” Jones says. This project reflects a new direction for Jones, whose career has consistently moved between gaming, IRL content, livestreaming, and entertainment. Now, he is exploring ways to use his established audience and production infrastructure to create experiences that can exist across multiple forms of media. At the center of that work, however, is the community that has followed Jones throughout his career. Despite the increasing scale of his productions, he continues to prioritize direct interaction.
“Right now, I stream every day. The schedule can change depending on what I’m working on, but I’m usually live and hanging out with chat daily,” Jones says. This ongoing connection also influences the people Jones brings into his production – his Los Angeles studio creates opportunities to collaborate with longtime creators, entertainers, and personalities from outside the traditional streaming world. And for Jones, some of the most memorable moments of expanding his work come from reconnecting with people who have been part of his life and career over the years.
“One of the best parts about creating these shows is rekindling old friendships and connecting with people I’ve known for a long time,” he says. As livestreaming pushes the boundaries of social media, television, gaming, and live events, Jones is positioning himself as both a creator and a producer of interactive entertainment. His decade of experience gives him a perspective that spans multiple eras of the medium, from the early days of gaming streams to today’s sophisticated creator productions.
With daily streaming alongside game development and larger-scale productions, Jones is building a creative operation designed to explore what livestreaming can become next.
