Lotus Unveils First Fully Electric Hyper-GT at Studio Emeya in New York City

New York City, NY (September 8, 2023) – Lotus celebrates the world premiere of Emeya – one of the fastest fully electric hyper grand tourer (GT) in the world – within a powerful immersive experience in New York City.

A Journey Through Lotus Heritage and Innovation

Studio Emeya will transport visitors on a journey through 75 years of heritage, technology, and performance, exploring the cutting-edge innovations which define the new generation of Lotus vehicles.  Open to visitors on Saturday, September 9, in the heart of Chelsea, Manhattan, the experience spans four floors of a New York City parking structure and provides consumers with an exclusive insight into the making of Emeya. The premiere brings together three industry-leading British creative talents for a multi-sensory experience – set designer David Curtis-Ring, music producer Burial, and Poet James Massiah.

From 1948 to Emeya: Exploring Lotus' Legacy

Beginning with the creation of Lotus in 1948, archive models demonstrate the brand's impressive lineage and heritage in motorsport, including the Lotus Mk6, Lotus 72, and Lotus Esprit Turbo, set against a backdrop of never-before-seen footage from its vaults. The journey continues with an exploration of Emeya's creative conception, deconstructing the design process with a series of installations which celebrate the key processes, components, and materials of the vehicle's automotive excellence.

Emeya Unveiled: A Multi-Sensory Experience

An immersive 360-degree theatre will play host to a sensory audio-visual experience which both evokes and invokes the emotions of driving Emeya. Renowned musician Burial has scored the space, crafting an exclusive piece of music for Studio Emeya. The experience culminates with the reveal of Emeya, set within an installation designed in partnership with David Curtis-Ring. A corridor of light will lead visitors to a vision of the future: the first view of Emeya, reflected in a monolith illuminated by moving light to create a canvas of perpetual motion.

Emeya's Spectacular Launch and Public Debut

Emeya launches with a powerful and emotive film featuring unseen footage, shot from the perspective of a car driving at speed around the Lotus test track in the UK and New York City, accompanied by a bespoke poem by James Massiah.  Studio Emeya will be open for the public to experience from 10:00am to 18:00pm at 270 11th Avenue, NYC (corner of 28th and 11th) on Saturday, September 9, by registering at the link: https://StudioEmeya.eventbrite.com

Lotus Emeya: Setting the Bar for Luxury Electric Vehicles

Ben Payne, Vice President of Design, Lotus Group, said: "Designed for the drivers, Emeya sets a new benchmark for how a Lotus drives and feels. Studio Emeya represents more than the introduction of a new model in the Lotus family, it also showcases our future ambitions, as we take an important next step on our journey from sports car specialist to a global luxury performance brand." Emeya joins as a flagship model in Lotus line-up of luxury lifestyle electric vehicles. Harnessing the company's 75-year expertise in engineering and design, Emeya features the latest advanced innovations in technology and performance – bringing drivers an electric car that is exciting to drive and performs exceptionally.

Innovations in Performance and Handling Excellence

This includes advanced and active aerodynamic features such as the pioneering front grille, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. All of this, combined with a low centre of gravity that Lotus calls 'Hyperstance', enhances stability when driving and sets a new standard in the GT segment for ride and handling excellence.  Emeya has an electronically controlled air suspension system. Its advanced onboard sensors feel the road ahead 1,000 times a second and automatically adjusts the vehicle to ensure the smoothest ride.

Emeya's Swift and Efficient Charging Capabilities

The top specification model of Emeya features Lotus' high-power dual motor set-up that has a top speed of more than 155mph (250km/h) and can accelerate from 0-62-mph (0-100km/h) in under 2.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric GTs in the world.  Lotus complements Emeya's performance with market-leading charging capabilities to provide customers with confidence wherever they're traveling. It can add 93 miles (150km) of range with approximately 18 minutes of charge using a 350kW DC fast charger, as well as boost range up to 80% within 18 minutes.

Emeya's Sustainable Materials and Immersive Audio Experience

Lotus consciously designed Emeya with advanced sustainable materials, which it also sustainably sourced, to reduce Emeya's carbon footprint. This includes a new luxury material made from repurposed fibres from the fashion industry – as well as PVD aluminium, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU.  Ensuring that every occupant can enjoy an unrivalled music experience, the Emeya will offer a truly immersive audio system developed with KEF. Emeya's speaker system will elevate music listening to new levels. It features KEF's award-winning Uni-Q® speaker design and Uni-CoreTM space-saving subwoofer enclosure, as well as Dolby Atmos enabled 3D surround sound – first seen in a Lotus on the Eletre Hyper-SUV.

Emeya brings together emotion and logic, power and precision, and connects the strength of Lotus sports car DNA with four-door luxury and comfort. Lotus chose the name Emeya to embody the ambition and commitment the company has for this new vehicle. Production for Emeya is expected to begin in 2024. Further information on Emeya will be released in Q4. Information on market availability and pricing will be announced at a future date.
