Broad Arrow Sets the Stage at Villa d’Este with Ferrari F40 Competizione, Pagani Huayra R, and a Legacy of Icons
As the motoring world turns its gaze to Lake Como for the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, Broad Arrow Auctions—the official auction partner of BMW AG—is set to debut a landmark sale. Taking place May 24–25 at Villa Erba, this inaugural event under the Broad Arrow banner brings together more than 70 exceptional collector cars, representing the full spectrum of automotive artistry from pre-war legends to modern hypercars.
Among the headliners: a 1989 Ferrari F40 Competizione, a 2022 Pagani Huayra R, and a Guards Red 2006 Porsche Carrera GT—each a modern collectible with cult status and storied provenance.
The Ferrari F40 Competizione: Enzo’s Legacy, Reborn for the Track
As the last road car developed under Enzo Ferrari’s direction, the Ferrari F40 is enshrined in automotive history. But the Competizione variant, such as chassis number 80369 presented here, takes the legend a step further. Originally built as a road car, it was later transformed by Martin Shaw’s Specialised Cars in the U.K. for competition use, featuring Lexan-covered fixed headlights, an adjustable rear wing, and a heavily tuned twin-turbo V8 pushing 648 hp and 763 Nm of torque.
Having competed in the 2000 British GT Championship, this example is one of just 27 F40s converted for privateer racing. It arrives at auction with an extensive spares package, including a second engine block and rare mechanical components—a prize for collectors seeking one of the most coveted iterations of Ferrari’s turbocharged era.
Pagani Huayra R: Horacio Pagani’s Ultimate Track Weapon
When Horacio Pagani envisioned the Huayra R, he sought to build the most extreme expression of his design and engineering philosophy. Just 30 examples were produced. Serial number 2, offered here with only 134 km, exemplifies that ethos.
Powered by a naturally aspirated 850 hp V12 developed with HWA AG, this track-only hypercar reaches a 9,000-rpm redline and channels the sound of vintage Formula 1. Its dry weight of just 1,050 kg, carbon fiber monocoque, and FIA GT safety-spec construction position it not just as an object of desire—but a weapon for the circuit. Over €300,000 in bespoke options have been lavished on the car, and the current owner will even cover the next factory service in Modena for the winning bidder.
Porsche Carrera GT: A Purist’s Dream in Guards Red
Closing out the supercar trio is a 2006 Porsche Carrera GT—one of the last analog greats, revered for its carbon monocoque chassis, 6-speed manual transmission, and detuned V10 engine originally designed for Le Mans. Offered with only 10,152 km and presented in the seldom-seen Guards Red, it has had just three private owners and was recently serviced at Porsche Zentrum Aachen, including a €20,000 engine-out refresh and KW suspension upgrade.
Celebrating BMW Through the Decades
Given the auction’s partnership with BMW Group Classic, Saturday night will feature a dedicated sale session celebrating collectible BMWs—from the rare 1939 BMW 328 Wendler Cabriolet to an original 1958 BMW 507 Series II, both paragons of pre- and post-war German elegance. The catalogue also includes two BMW M1s, a Z8, a first-generation M3 CSL, and a 1991 Alpina RLE, of which only 66 were ever built.
This focus on BMW extends the marque’s presence at the Concorso and affirms Broad Arrow’s commitment to honoring brands that have shaped the collector car landscape.
Icons Beyond the Spotlight
The auction lineup also includes a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing finished in rare Medium Red, a 1957 300 SL Roadster in Anthracite Gray, and a one-owner 2007 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition. Pre-war entries include a 1935 Mercedes-Benz 290 Roadster, while modern rarities range from a 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM Convertible to a Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa estimated between €5.5M–€7.5M.
Other distinguished marques on offer include Aston Martin, Fiat, Lamborghini, Maserati, and a Mille Miglia-eligible 1947 Stanguellini 11 Sport Internazionale, each reflecting the Concorso’s role as both a celebration of engineering and a marketplace of heritage.
