Nantucket, MA – July 17, 2025 — The Nantucket Hotel & Resort has long held a reputation for timeless island charm, but its newest offering introduces a fresh, design-forward twist. In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, New York-based interior designer Michael Kramer of Michael Thomas & Co. and iconic lifestyle brand Lilly Pulitzer have joined forces to reimagine two private cottages on the resort’s grounds—just in time for Nantucket By Design’s summer celebrations.
Infused with coastal nostalgia and Palm Beach irreverence, the cottages showcase a carefully orchestrated interplay of Lilly Pulitzer’s signature prints, Lee Jofa textiles, and Benjamin Moore’s nuanced palette, creating a multi-sensory, immersive escape that’s as much about story as it is about style.
Kramer’s design concept is unapologetically maximalist, but never chaotic. Each room—whether in the two-bedroom suite or the more intimate one-bedroom retreat—serves as a canvas for the newest Lilly Pulitzer x Lee Jofa fabric and wallcovering collection, brought to life with painterly detail and layers of texture.
“The curated print selection is exceptional; our multi-colored ‘She’s Got Sol’ serves as a pivotal design element, while the ‘Costa Verde’ chevron repeat, presented in various colorways across upholstery and wallcovering, lends an ethereal quality.”Suzanne Cohen, Chief Marketing Officer of Lee Jofa
Each cottage is finished with Benjamin Moore’s richly pigmented paints, chosen not only to complement the textiles, but to build emotional resonance. In the larger two-bedroom suite, the kitchen mural—painted by Lilly Pulitzer’s in-house studio artists—visually bridges the home’s storytelling layers. A custom hand-shelled fireplace, window treatments using “Straw Hat” neutrals, and a statement Mario Lopez Torres chandelier from Circa Who ground the space in playful sophistication.
While smaller in scale, the one-bedroom cottage delivers design impact in full measure. Kramer opted to saturate the walls in Benjamin Moore’s “Bird’s Egg Blue,” giving the space a luminous, retro-modern quality. Custom Pooky Lighting sconces, a hand-painted entry mural, and floral drapery details soften the lines, while original artwork—including a portrait of Lilly Pulitzer herself and pieces from the brand’s collaboration with photographer Nick Mele—imbue the interiors with brand heritage and storytelling.
The Lilly Pulitzer Home Collection makes its way into each room, seamlessly blending retail elements into residential luxury—proof that maximalism and meticulousness can coexist.
“We wanted these cottages to feel like garden parties you never want to leave. They’re playful but sophisticated, designed for the guest who wants luxury and personality in equal measure.”Michael Kramer of Michael Thomas & Co.
This project marks the third immersive guest experience between Lilly Pulitzer and Little Gem Resorts, following the success of the Winnetu Summer Cottage in Martha’s Vineyard and the Lilly-Villa at Lovango Resort & Beach Club in the US Virgin Islands.
“Nantucket is a very important resort town where Lilly Pulitzer has celebrated along with the community for decades. The Summer Cottages at The Nantucket are the perfect combination of all the things the Lilly brand stands for: a world of Lilly’s signature prints in an exquisite color palette, all wrapped up in a chic resort lifestyle.”Mira Fain, Chief Creative Officer for the brand
The design direction connects not just to place but also to memory—leveraging color, print, and architectural storytelling to evoke an emotional response. It’s a direction that feels deeply personal to guests, even if they’re encountering it for the first time.
The cottages will open for public bookings beginning July 17, following exclusive walk-through tours during Nantucket By Design’s week of events. The unveiling adds a layer of cultural excitement to one of the island’s most design-centric weeks—and underscores The Nantucket Hotel & Resort’s commitment to staying at the intersection of heritage and innovation.
“The hotel enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to redesign our one- and two-bedroom east cottages and work with Benjamin Moore, Lee Jofa, and Lilly Pulitzer to reveal a seaside-inspired collaboration for Nantucket By Design."Gwenn Snider, Hotel Owner
With its latest transformation, The Nantucket Hotel offers more than accommodation—it offers immersion in color, craftsmanship, and coastal culture, redefined for a design-literate guest who expects every detail to speak.
