Decisions, decisions what to order in the hamptons this season

In today's world, choices confront us at every turn. It used to be a simple coffee with cream and sugar—now it's a no-fat foam double latte with extra whip; there are more options than ever before. As the day wears on, many are afflicted by what has come to be known as decision fatigue. Once it sets in, the sufferer begins to make impulsive decisions. If it happens at a restaurant while ordering dinner, the result is often order-envy. At this point, it's too late, and you're left with a meal that falls flat of expectations.

In an effort to stave off this debilitating dilemma, we've compiled a list of the best items to order in some of the Hampton's most popular restaurants.

Start in Montauk at Backyard Restaurant at Sole East. Here, those in the know opt for the fluke ceviche with yuzu-marinated fluke, cucumber wasabi salad, pickled fennel and plantain chips.

Or hit up 668 The Gig Shack for some global surf cuisine, and check out their blackened local fish montacos with homemade mango salsa and creamy coleslaw in a crunchy corn tortilla.

In Amagansett, Indian Wells Tavern is the place for the perfect grilled ribeye, a 14-ounce cut, seasoned with house steak rub, char-grilled to your liking, with horseradish sauce, fingerling potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

The options in East Hampton are plentiful. The teriyaki grilled salmon with vegetable rice, sautéed spinach and teriyaki drizzle at Harbor Grill hits the spot.

And what list of Hamptons' dishes would be complete without a lobster roll? If you're looking for the best one out east, look no further than Bostwick's Chowder House. It's a big statement, but we believe they've got the claws (and the tail) to back it up.

If crispy calamari is more your style, head over to Fresno, where theirs is served with siracha-lime aioli.

For a classic burger, put your fists around the Rowdy Burger at Rowdy Hall. It's certified all-natural Black Angus with American, Swiss, Cheddar or Blue Cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion or fried onion served with hand-cut French friends and a pickle. The toughest decision here is whether or not to add some bacon.

Don't miss out on the all-natural jerk chicken with fried plantains at this season's newcomer, Winston's Bar and Grill.

Further west in Southampton, nibble on the grilled cheese sandwich at little|red. This grown-up version is made with brie, slow roasted duck, braised cabbage and Dijon.

Follow this list of great eats that are guaranteed to please the palate and there's one less decision to be made. No need to stress next time you hit the road and head to the beach. But are you taking the Jitney or the train???
