An Open Canvas in the Heart of Miami Beach

March 19th, 2025 — Miami Beach’s Lincoln Road, long celebrated for its fusion of commerce, community, and culture, has launched an ambitious new initiative that further positions the promenade as a global stage for public art. The Lincoln Road Business Improvement District (LRBID) has announced an international open call for proposals, offering one artist up to $75,000 in funding to create and install a temporary, large-scale public art piece to be displayed through Spring 2026.

The winning installation will stand among a distinguished lineage of public artworks that have graced the outdoor district in recent years—sculptures by Fernando Botero, the electrifying works of Richard Orlinski, Daniel Anderson’s dreamlike forms, Rubem Robierb’s kinetic symbolism, and the striking 45-foot-tall R-Evolution by Marco Cochrane, which celebrated feminine strength and drew critical acclaim during its 2023–2024 run. Most recently, Gillie and Marc’s “Go Wild for the Wild” captivated viewers and further cemented Lincoln Road as one of Miami’s most dynamic cultural destinations.

This new opportunity—part of LRBID’s Art on Lincoln: Sculpture, Installations and More initiative—asks artists to reflect the district’s cultural energy and creative diversity. The proposed piece must be both visually compelling and structurally feasible, with the artist also required to include detailed installation logistics, materials specifications, and a maintenance plan to ensure the work’s integrity throughout its public life.

Artists selected to move forward will have their submissions reviewed by a panel comprised of LRBID executive board members, who will evaluate proposals based on artistic merit, viability, and alignment with Lincoln Road’s broader cultural vision.

“We’ve had the privilege of showcasing works by some of the world’s most celebrated artists, and we’re excited to welcome new talent to leave their mark on Lincoln Road. This is just the beginning – our vision includes even more immersive art experiences and cultural programming that will continue to engage and inspire visitors for years to come.”

Lyle Stern, President of the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District

Amplified Exposure, Unmatched Setting

In addition to the significant production budget, the selected artist will benefit from unprecedented exposure, as their work will be featured across LRBID’s robust marketing channels, including the district’s official website, social media platforms, and public relations campaigns. More than 10.8 million annual visitors—locals and global travelers alike—explore Lincoln Road’s pedestrian-only promenade each year, offering unparalleled visibility within an ever-expanding cultural ecosystem.
