Magie Wine Bar Redefines Miami’s Wine Scene with Chef-Driven Bites and Self-Serve Charm
In a city known for its flash and flair, Magie Wine Bar is doing something refreshingly different—quietly building a scene rooted in flavor, rhythm, and real community. With locations in Little River and Coconut Grove, this adults-only, self-serve wine bar is more than a drinking spot. It’s a space where wine culture loses its pretense and gains personality—loud, local, and completely unfiltered.
There’s no need for reservations or bottle service here. Magie invites guests to walk in, pour a glass at their own pace, and explore a wine selection that leans heavily on Spain, Portugal, and Greece. Everything from the music to the bites is curated but casual. This is a wine bar built for lingering conversations, impromptu date nights, and the kind of midweek hangs that somehow stretch into morning.
No-Frills, All Flavor
Open late and operating with a no-cover, no-table-service policy, Magie flips the traditional wine bar experience on its head. Guests browse curated shelves and fridges stocked with unique wines and beers, then pair their pours with bold, shareable snacks that are anything but typical bar fare.
Think house-made sour cream and onion chips with caviar and crème fraîche, caviar corn dogs, and roasted mushroom and truffle pecorino hand pies—each crafted in-house by Chef Ivan Barros, who won Season 2 of Food Network’s Ciao House and previously helmed the kitchen at Amara at Paraiso.
It’s casual food with serious culinary credentials, intentionally designed to match the energy of the room: unexpected, playful, and undeniably satisfying.
The People Behind the Pour
Caroline Strauss, a veteran of Miami’s hospitality scene, is the concept’s co-owner and operator. After a global run directing strategy for venues under the Ennismore umbrella—think SLS, Delano, Mondrian, Hyde, and Hoxton—Strauss returned to her hometown to focus on local, community-rooted hospitality. At Magie, she’s teamed up with Chef Barros to offer a new kind of dining and drinking experience: one that’s spontaneous, social, and free of expectations.
“Magie is a space where people can let loose, discover new wines, and enjoy bold, trendy bites in a high-energy setting. It’s about creating moments with friends, neighbors, and the flavors that bring us together.”

That sense of spontaneity is built into the design. Each location pairs mismatched vintage furniture and dim lighting with textures that evoke European nightlife. There are no identical tables, no uniformed servers—just a curated chaos that feels personal and lived-in. Music is part of the experience, too: expect European hip-hop, deep cuts, and tracks that match the mood of the night.
Wine Without the Rules
Magie’s wine selection is as exploratory as its atmosphere. Guests can sample lesser-known varieties with staff guidance, or simply pour what catches their eye.
For those who crave structure, standout recommendations include:
Penhó Wines Dialectic Tinto from Portugal: earthy, fruity, and layered with blackberry and cherry
Brisat Catalan Mas Goma, made from Xarel-lo grapes: tart green apple with a hint of saline minerality
Each bottle is chosen not for its price tag or prestige, but for its drinkability and character.
Built for the Neighborhood
Beyond wine and snacks, Magie is a cultural hub. With regular events like Sunday pop-up markets, live DJ sets, and collaborations with Miami’s creative food community, the wine bar brings people together in ways that feel organic and inclusive. Previous pop-ups have featured names like Sili, Lazy Oyster, Chikin Boi, and Wolf of Tacos, with a steady rotation of local vendors turning the space into something between a market, bar, and living room.
There’s always something new to discover, thanks to rotating surprise specials from Chef Barros and weekly staples like $15 handmade pasta on Wednesdays or $10 Magie Sundaes on Sundays.
