Black Tap and Carnegie Deli Join Forces for a Pastrami-Packed Celebration of National Burger Month
May 13th, 2025 – In a culinary collaboration that bridges decades of New York flavor, Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer and Carnegie Deli have teamed up to celebrate National Burger Month with a limited-edition menu that pays homage to the city’s most enduring culinary icons. Offered throughout May 2025 at Black Tap’s SoHo and Midtown locations, the Carnegie Deli x Black Tap mashup delivers a series of imaginative dishes designed to surprise, satisfy, and spark conversation.
This collaboration merges two distinctly New York institutions: the downtown cool of Black Tap—known for its inventive burgers and outsized milkshakes—and the timeless appeal of Carnegie Deli, which has served oversized pastrami sandwiches and traditional Jewish deli fare since 1937. The result? A bold menu that infuses classic deli flavors into Black Tap’s signature culinary style, bringing nostalgia and innovation to the same table.
A Burger with Legacy: Pastrami at the Center
At the heart of the special menu is the Pastrami Burger ($23), a celebration of New York's dual love affair with burgers and brined beef. Built on a Black Angus patty, the burger layers Carnegie Deli’s hand-sliced pastrami, melted Swiss cheese, sour pickles, and spicy mustard aioli inside a Martin’s Potato Bun. Served with a side of golden fries, it’s the kind of dish that could only be born in the five boroughs—unapologetically indulgent, packed with character, and entirely satisfying.
Accompanying the main attraction are three supporting dishes that double down on the theme:
Pastrami Hot Pocket ($11):
A reimagined comfort classic, featuring layers of pastrami, Swiss, and pickles inside a buttery pastry, served with a mustard aioli dip.
Pastrami Fries ($14):
A pile of golden fries loaded with pastrami, melted cheese, sour pickle bits, and finished with smoked salt and pepper for added depth.
Pickle Shake ($11):
Black Tap’s fearless approach to dessert shines in this one-of-a-kind milkshake. Blending Carnegie Deli’s sour pickle brine—complete with seeds and spices—into vanilla ice cream, the shake is topped with hot honey and a fried pickle garnish (frickle), walking the tightrope between sweet and savory with precision.
A Creative Union Built on New York Pride
The collaboration reflects a mutual respect between two brands built on flavor and fandom.
“We’re always looking for opportunities to elevate our menu, particularly during National Burger Month. Collaborating with Carnegie Deli was a fantastic chance to push creative boundaries. We’ve taken their iconic deli flavors and reimagined them in a way that we believe our guests will find both exciting and delicious.”
Julie Mulligan, Black Tap Co-Founder and CEO
Carnegie Deli CEO Sarri Harper echoed the sentiment: “The opportunity to bring Carnegie Deli’s flavors to a new audience through National Burger Month was incredibly exciting. Partnering with a restaurant known for their juicy burgers and creative shakes allowed us to create something really special.”
Where to Indulge
The exclusive menu is available at both Black Tap SoHo (529 Broome St) and Black Tap Midtown (45 W 35th St) throughout May. With the arrival of rooftop season and the buzz of National Burger Month, the timing couldn’t be better to experience this limited-time lineup.
Whether you’re a Carnegie Deli traditionalist or a Black Tap devotee—or simply curious to taste what happens when two icons share a plate—this collaboration is a compelling reason to revisit what makes New York’s food scene so enduringly magnetic: its appetite for flavor, risk-taking, and reinvention.
