Miami’s summer social scene just got a refresh—and it’s coming straight from Little River’s most charming neighborhood wine bar. Magie Wine Bar, known for its curated Iberian wines and no-fuss approach to elevated snacking, has launched The Not So Serious Summer Series—a chef pop-up program that trades white tablecloths for $3 beers, backyard vibes, and water gun fights. It’s as relaxed as it sounds—but still sharp in curation and community impact.

Running from late May through Labor Day weekend, the series invites Miami’s top culinary voices to take over the Magie patio for one-night-only collaborations. Each event is designed to be spontaneous and easygoing, with no cover, no reservations, and every dollar from vendor sales going directly to the chefs. It’s Magie’s way of giving back to the city’s hospitality community during the slower summer season, while offering guests access to top-tier cooking at street party prices.

An Unfiltered Summer Lineup

The series kicked off May 29 with Argentinean barbecue by Chef Facundo, followed by Chef Mika Leon and The Wolf of Tacos (sponsored by Tillamook) on June 17. Upcoming highlights include:

  • June 22, 5PM: Teds Burgers x Tripping Animals Brewery

  • June 29, TBA: Atomica (Modern Peruvian Cuisine)

  • July 6, 12–4PM: Lazy Oyster Raw Bar & Seafood Boil

  • July 20, 12–4PM: “Iced” Coffee Party with Oori Bakeshop, Mr. Black, and Imperial Moto

  • July 27, 5PM: Sidewalk Bottle Shop Bros

  • August 20, 6PM: Pirolo’s Panino’s

  • August 24, 6PM: Beaker & Gray

  • Labor Day Weekend (August 31 & September 1): Special Guest Finale

All events take place at Magie Wine Bar’s Little River location (8281 NE 2nd Ave), with start times ranging from early evening to laidback weekend lunch slots. True to form, Magie isn’t releasing menus ahead of time—surprise is part of the appeal.

No Rules, Just Really Good Food (and Wine)

Founded by Caroline Strauss and Chef Ivan Barros—winner of Food Network’s Ciao House Season 2—Magie is a study in unpretentious elegance. Its shelves are lined with Spanish and Portuguese wines, tins of conservas, caviar, and hard-to-find culinary gems that guests are encouraged to browse, taste, and take home. The space feels more like a friend’s home than a formal venue, with a philosophy that champions spontaneity, curiosity, and casual discovery.

Events during the Not So Serious Summer Series stay true to that ethos. Expect crowd-pleasing pricing ($10 glasses of wine, $35 bottles), a rotating cast of Miami’s most talented chefs, and an open-air atmosphere where the only agenda is to hang out and enjoy.

Summary

As Miami’s dining scene continues to evolve with polished rooftop lounges and high-concept tasting menus, Magie offers a refreshing counterpoint—unfussy, community-forward, and still entirely dialed-in. The Not So Serious Summer Series isn’t just about food. It’s about keeping things light, local, and deliciously unserious—one pop-up at a time.
