This fall, Coconut Grove welcomes a dining destination that promises to redefine Miami’s Italian culinary scene. Da Angelino Cucina Italiana is set to open this September at CocoWalk, marking a milestone partnership between two of South Florida’s most revered hospitality powerhouses: the storied Graspa Group and the critically acclaimed Ariete Hospitality Group. For the first time, the two groups have joined forces to craft an Italian concept that is as heartfelt as it is refined.

A First-of-Its-Kind Collaboration

The venture is historic for both parties. For Graspa Group—known for beloved spots like Osteria and Salumeria 104—it marks a long-anticipated debut in Coconut Grove. For Ariete Hospitality Group, led by James Beard-nominated chef Michael Beltran, it represents their inaugural Italian concept.

“We’ve dreamed of opening an Italian restaurant in the Grove for years. But we knew we had to do it with the right partners. Graspa Group brings decades of award-winning flavor, service and soul.”

Hospitality with Heart

At the core of Da Angelino Cucina Italiana is Florence-born hospitality veteran Angelin Kometa. As the restaurant’s namesake and guiding force, Kometa will greet guests daily with his signature charisma and warmth. His presence is essential to the atmosphere—one that feels elevated, yet profoundly personal.

“It’s not fine dining in the traditional sense. It’s how we grew up eating in Italy – elegant but never stiff, where guests are welcomed like family.”

The interiors reflect that philosophy. With soft sage accents, terra-cotta hues, and crisp white linen on every table, the 4,441-square-foot space exudes understated charm. Seating for 150 is split between a cozy indoor dining room and a lush, garden-style patio designed for alfresco lingering. Details like a vintage Polaroid station nod to the restaurant’s family-first ethos.

A Regional Culinary Journey

Da Angelino’s menu pays homage to Italy’s diverse regions, offering a curated selection of dishes that span the northern hills to the southern coast. House-made pastas are front and center—think rich Gnocchi alla Vodka, luxurious tableside Cacio e Pepe alla Ruota, and briny Linguine ai Frutti di Mare.

For starters, the Antipasti and Crudo selections include Polpo alla Griglia, Tuna Tartare, and the always-satisfying Frittura Mista. Cheese and charcuterie lovers can customize their own boards from the Formaggi e Salumi section, with artisanal picks like truffled pecorino, Prosciutto San Daniele aged 24 months, and piacentinu allo zafferano.

Italian-style small plates, or Stuzzichini, offer lighter fare such as Mini Calzoni and Arancini, while vibrant seasonal salads like the seafood-rich Di Mare and classic Burrata Caprese round out the opening course.

From the grill, standout Secondi include Short Ribs and the Cotoletta alla Milanese—a bone-in veal chop breaded and pan-fried to golden perfection, which is already poised to become the restaurant’s signature dish. For a shared indulgence, the 1.5 lb Ribeye for two is a standout. Accompaniments like Braised Artichokes, Creamy Spinach with Parmesan, and Grilled Jumbo Asparagus offer thoughtful balance.

A Wine Program with Depth—and Discovery

The wine list traverses Italy and beyond, with the Rossi section highlighting bold reds from Tuscany, Sicily, Piedmont and Veneto. For global breadth, International Reds include selections from Napa, France, Spain, and Chile. The Bianchi (whites) section features crisp varietals from Trentino, Friuli and Campania, while Italian Rosés and French Champagnes offer celebratory sparkle.

Complementing the wine is a craft cocktail program featuring a mix of timeless classics and signature creations, each designed to elevate the dining experience and mirror the menu’s regional soul.

More Than a Meal

Beyond cuisine, Da Angelino Cucina Italiana signals growth for the Grove. The restaurant will introduce approximately 30 new jobs to the area, deepening its ties to the local community while drawing a new wave of culinary travelers to Grand Avenue.

Located at 3015 Grand Ave. in Coconut Grove, the restaurant will be open Monday through Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m., Fridays from 4 to 11 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 11 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m.

A Legacy, Reimagined

At once a tribute and a bold new chapter, Da Angelino Cucina Italiana invites diners to experience Italian dining with soul, substance, and style. As Graspa Group and Ariete Hospitality Group combine their formidable strengths, Coconut Grove becomes home to a culinary collaboration years in the making—and well worth the wait.
