Casa Nané Arrives in Brickell: Ecuador’s Beloved Bistro Makes a Miami Debut
April 8, 2025 – Amid the rush of Brickell’s high-rises and glassy storefronts, a slower pace is taking root—one that invites comfort over speed, hand-crafted charm over trend-driven flash. Casa Nané, the Ecuadorian-born bistro and bakery known for its sweet-meets-savory menu and intimate café atmosphere, has opened its first U.S. location in Miami. The 1,800-square-foot space in Maizon Brickell is the latest chapter in a story that began not in a commercial kitchen, but in a home oven in Ecuador.
Founded by Jeanet Hanze, affectionately known as “Nané,” Casa Nané is the evolution of Biscuits by Nané, a weekend hobby turned culinary brand that took shape in 2013. Backed by her husband and business partner Christian Stagg, Hanze grew the bakery into a nationally recognized name with five locations across Ecuador. Their Miami opening marks a moment of expansion—and a warm invitation for locals to discover a taste of Ecuadorian tradition, reimagined for a new audience.
Where Sweet Memories Meet Savory Comfort
At the heart of the experience is an all-day brunch menu that balances global appeal with Ecuadorian soul. Casa Nané’s iconic cookies, baked daily and arranged like edible jewels in the display case, offer signature combinations like s’mores, coconut dulce de leche with macadamia, and a soft-baked red velvet. But to view Casa Nané as just a bakery would be to miss the deeper story it’s telling.
The savory side of the menu showcases dishes central to Ecuadorian cuisine—green plantains in their most beloved forms. Guests can order tigrillo, a breakfast staple of mashed plantains with cheese and scrambled eggs; bolón, mashed plantain dumplings filled with cheese or chicharrón; and the tortilla de verde, a pan-seared plantain patty with a melting cheese center.
Seafood lovers will appreciate the JipiJapa ceviche, a regional specialty of raw Mahi-Mahi marinated in lime and peanut sauce, or a mixed seafood ceviche featuring shrimp, octopus, and more, served with crisp plantain chips and avocado.
Complementing these plates is a thoughtful beverage selection—smoothies, specialty teas, espresso drinks—served in pastel-pink ceramic mugs handmade by Ecuadorian artisans, reinforcing the care woven into every detail of the experience.
A Home Away from Home in the Heart of Brickell
Stepping inside Casa Nané feels less like entering a café and more like being welcomed into someone’s living room. The interior, marked by soft pastel tones, natural woods, and a custom floral mural inspired by Ecuadorian flora, offers a gentle contrast to Brickell’s glass-and-concrete edge. There are 56 seats spread across indoor and outdoor areas, encouraging both a quiet solo morning and convivial brunch with friends.
The design leans personal and story-driven, down to the custom tableware—a tangible extension of Hanze’s original kitchen roots. This balance of humility and sophistication is what makes Casa Nané particularly compelling within Miami’s luxury dining landscape: it feels both curated and deeply personal.
More Than a Café: A Community Space in the Making
With their Brickell opening, Hanze and Stagg aim to create more than a place to eat—they’re building a space for community and creativity. Plans for curated programming, including floral design workshops, fitness meetups, and local collaborations, reflect the team’s ongoing commitment to hospitality beyond the plate.
“Bringing Casa Nané to the U.S. has been a vision years in the making. Every detail has been carefully planned to ensure this new location reflects the same quality, warmth, and consistency our customers love back home.”
Christian Stagg
Their goal isn’t rapid expansion but meaningful integration—starting with Brickell, and eventually growing into other communities that align with the brand’s ethos of care, connection, and craftsmanship.
