In a move that bridges 18th-century prestige with 21st-century innovation, Rare Champagne has unveiled its latest limited-edition offering: The Extra-Ordinary Metamorphosis. The release marks a first for the maison on multiple fronts—its first NFT-backed collectible, its first collaboration with an artist, and its most symbolic cuvée to date. Priced at $1,500, this ultra-luxury gift set not only contains a bottle of Rare Millésime 2014, but also introduces a Digital Passport designed to evolve over time, culminating in a future wine experience promised for 2032.
At the heart of this 88-edition release is a poetic meditation on the passage of time—one that balances the ephemeral nature of champagne with enduring artistic expression.
The visual centerpiece of this edition is a handcrafted Rosa Peony sculpture by William Amor, the Paris-based artist known for turning waste into botanical beauty. Made from repurposed plastic—an intentional nod to sustainability—the flower pays tribute to Queen Marie-Antoinette’s favorite bloom, evoking Rare Champagne’s aristocratic roots while looking firmly toward the future.
Adorning each bottle are additional symbolic elements: two vine leaves formed from recycled aluminum Rare Champagne capsules and a shimmering embellishment crafted from crystallized tartar deposits, a natural byproduct of the champagne aging process. Each ornament underscores the project’s central theme—transformation as luxury.
Each purchaser of The Extra-Ordinary Metamorphosis receives a Digital Passport, a blockchain-secured certificate of authenticity linked to the sculpted Rosa Peony. But it’s more than proof of provenance—it’s a commitment. In eight years, holders of this passport will receive a Methuselah (6-liter bottle) of Rare Rosé, selected by the Cellar Master for release in 2032.
The number eight, symbolizing infinity and evolution, shapes every layer of this collectible: the eight-year maturation window, the 88 total editions, and the continual transformation both in bottle and in meaning.
“We are honored to share it with collectors,” said Maud Rabin, Director of Rare Champagne, calling the edition “incredible” and emblematic of the brand’s evolving identity.
For artist William Amor, the project transcends aesthetics. “Every element that went into the creation of this bottle was preserved and thoughtfully transformed,” he explained. “The gift set is a call for sustainable awareness, serving as a reminder to see the beauty in the unexpected and let nature’s generosity inspire a shift in perspective.”
Amor’s artistic ethos—transforming plastic waste, fishing nets, and cigarette butts into poetic flora—has earned him accolades including the Grand Prize for Creation of the City of Paris. With his signature painterly techniques and a mission rooted in biodiversity, Amor’s collaboration with Rare Champagne is as thoughtful as it is theatrical.
The Extra-Ordinary Metamorphosis arrives not just as a bottle, but as a statement piece in the evolving luxury wine landscape—a confluence of old-world savoir-faire, contemporary art, and blockchain-certified authenticity. It is the first project of its kind from Rare Champagne, whose 240-year legacy includes only 14 vintages released since 1976.
This launch also marks the maison’s commitment to responsible luxury, following its recent B Corp Certification and ongoing work with like-minded artists and artisans.
Collectors, take note—time begins now.
