May 26th, 2025 – Memorial Day Weekend in the Caribbean reached a new crescendo this year as Atlantis Paradise Island—the region’s undisputed hub for celebrity-driven entertainment—welcomed John Legend to inaugurate its 2025 Atlantis: LIVE Music Making Waves series.
Fresh from the season 27 finale of The Voice, the EGOT-winner arrived at The Cove to perform a one-night-only beachfront concert that was equal parts intimate, nostalgic, and powerfully personal. With nothing but a grand piano and a flood of emotion, Legend delivered a 90-minute solo set to a sold-out crowd of resort guests, locals, and visiting A-listers, all bathed in the soft Bahamian night.
Stripped of theatrics but rich in resonance, Legend’s performance showcased acoustic versions of favorites like “Tonight (Best You Ever Had),” “Green Light,” “Wonder Woman,” “Like I’m Gonna Lose You,” and “Ordinary People.” Each song was punctuated by personal stories and reflections, some narrated as childhood photos played on a screen behind him, creating a moving visual arc of his artistic journey.
One of the night’s standout moments came as Legend revisited a treasured memory from Atlantis itself. Before launching into a heartfelt rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon in the Sky,” he recalled performing the same song for Wonder at The Cove in 2007, during a birthday celebration. The crowd listened in stillness as Legend honored his longtime friend and their shared history at the resort, with Paradise Island becoming both setting and sentiment.
Legend closed the evening with an emotional performance of “All of Me,” dedicating the ballad to his wife, Chrissy Teigen, who was absent following hairline surgery. As he played, home video footage from their wedding appeared onscreen, eliciting audible reactions from the audience—a finale that blurred the lines between performance and private love letter.
Following the show, Legend retired to his private suite at The Cove, the resort’s luxury all-suite retreat, before continuing on to his 40-city Get Lifted: 20th Anniversary Tour.
The holiday weekend buzzed with celebrity sightings. iHeartRadio host and EXTRA correspondent Tommy DiDario was in attendance, joining the crowd for Legend’s exclusive performance. The artist was also seen catching up with actor and comedian Tommy Davidson, adding to the laid-back glamour of the evening.
The Atlantis: LIVE Music Making Waves series has long been a pillar of the resort’s reputation as a cultural and entertainment epicenter in the Caribbean. With Legend opening this year’s lineup, the bar has been set—not just for star caliber, but for emotional depth and artistic authenticity.
Atlantis Paradise Island continues to deliver experiences where global icons meet island intimacy, setting the stage for a summer season that promises more of the same: luxury, legacy, and live music at its most compelling.
