Las Vegas, NV – July 18, 2025 — It was a celebration worthy of one of the world’s most electrifying performers. On July 17, Steve Aoki was honored at Amaya Modern Mexican inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, commemorating his cover feature for Haute Living’s August/September Los Angeles issue. But the evening carried more than just media fanfare—it was also a toast to Aoki’s next chapter: fatherhood.
Hosted in partnership with Ferrari of Las Vegas, the exclusive soirée unfolded amid a vibrant backdrop of exotic cars, celebrity guests, luxe design, and a menu that delivered culinary fireworks. At the center of it all, Aoki and his wife, Sasha Sofine, shared the spotlight with a sweet surprise—an intricately designed cake from Freed’s Bakery celebrating the upcoming arrival of their baby boy.
Amaya’s ambiance—designed by Peter Max Bowden of Petermax Co.—offered a rich sensory tapestry of Yucatán-inspired textures and tones, setting the scene for an evening that fused edge with elegance. Surrounded by lush installations, dramatic lighting, and guests in black-tie-meets-streetwear, the event moved at the pulse of its honoree: fast, stylish, and high-energy.
Aoki, clad in signature streetwear, and Sofine in a strapless black gown, spent the evening mingling, posing for photos, and savoring Chef Jason McLeod’s Michelin-starred menu, which included:
Charred Octopus with chorizo, white bean, guajillo, and lime aioli
Carne Asada with chili butter, grilled cebollita, and chimichurri
The show-stopping Frozen Pineapple dessert with whipped sorbet, passionfruit, and caramel
The kitchen’s bold compositions mirrored the night’s tone—playful, refined, and built for storytelling.
The culinary indulgence was matched by rare pours, including a Louis XIII Cognac toast in Aoki’s honor. The tribute continued with the unveiling of a custom artwork by New York pop artist Jeremy Wolff, inspired by Aoki’s multifaceted career and newly published Haute Living cover. It was a moment that cemented the night’s balance between pop culture gravitas and personal celebration.
On the cocktail side, the Fuego y Hielo proved a fitting crowd favorite—blending Flecha Azul tequila, blood orange, vanilla, lemon, Angostura and fire bitters for a layered sip that mirrored Amaya’s conceptual boldness.
Though Amaya may be one of the newer additions to The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, it has quickly staked a claim as a destination for design-savvy diners and celebrity-hosted affairs. Developed by Clique Hospitality for Gen3 Hospitality, the concept reimagines modern Mexican cuisine with dishes like a Birria Short Rib with corn purée and cotija and the signature Amaya Surf & Turf—a theatrical presentation of Wagyu filet, dry-aged New York steak, and chili lime butter lobster tail served with a trio of salsas.
Amaya’s expansive collection of aged tequilas and mezcals offers a deep dive into Jalisco’s multi-generational heritage, further establishing the restaurant’s commitment to cultural nuance with culinary flair.
The night’s energy balanced spotlight and sentiment. Yes, there were fast cars, haute pours, and sharp tailoring—but also the softer note of a custom cake welcoming a new life. In a city built for spectacle, the evening managed to feel distinctly personal.
It wasn’t just a party. It was a celebration of chapters—one in Haute Living, one in music, and one soon to arrive, wrapped in hospital blankets rather than couture.
