Onna House is delighted to announce the reopening of our gallery at The Royal Poinciana Plaza in Palm Beach, open for the season from December 7 through April 15. This gallery embodies Onna House's mission to honor and uplift the work of women artists, celebrating craft forms such as textiles, ceramics, wood, and needlework. By calling attention to these disciplines, Onna House fosters a space for visibility, inclusion, and community.
Over the past six months, Lisa Perry, the founder of Onna House, has uncovered a remarkable number of artists exploring the color blue for diverse and compelling reasons. Their works come together in a beautifully cohesive presentation within the gallery.
This exhibition features multidisciplinary works by a diverse group of artists, including Alyssa Goodman, Christina Jensen Vicente, Erica Lynn Huberty, Jacotte Capron, Joa Baldinger, Kate Lawless, Katrien Van Der Schueren, Kathy Howard Jacobson, Kayla Powers, Kelly Klein, Landis Carey, Latika Nehra, Lisbeth McCoy, Lizzie Hill, Mithé Espelt, Patti Menkes, Shino Takeda, Silène Fry, Stacy Solodkin, Vivian Carbonell, Yael Harnik, and Yoona Hur.
An emerging Israeli artist, Yael Harnik's work reflects her deep engagement with traditional Japanese textile techniques, such as “katazome” and “indigo dyeing.” These processes involve natural materials like rice paste and soybeans, emphasizing the "time-intensive nature of craft." Harnik’s work is a harmonious fusion of tradition and innovation, bridging cultural and temporal divides with a focus on repetition, movement, and the natural world. Her experience living and working in Japan has greatly influenced her exploration of timeless themes through precise craftsmanship.
Jacotte Capron (b. 1935) is a French ceramic artist celebrated for her mastery of color and abstraction, with work deeply rooted in the traditions of mid-century modernism and shaped by her collaboration and marriage to Roger Capron, as well as the vibrant artistic community in Vallauris, a historic hub for ceramics where figures like Pablo Picasso also influenced the craft. Jacotte’s pieces are inspired by the essence of southern France: playful and whimsical, characteristic of the vibrant culture in the region Jacotte’s signature style lies in her ability to juxtapose vibrant and subdued tones, as well as matte and glossy textures, resulting in dynamic compositions.
At Onna House, we love to bring in and highlight local talent, and we’re thrilled to feature Florida-based artist Christina Jensen Vicente. Though Christina spent the majority of her career in the fashion industry, notably with Chanel, her true artistic spirit never wavered. She has now fully embraced her creative roots, returning to her passion for exploring texture, materiality, and human connection with space through her fiber art.
