New York City is always buzzing with energy, and the holiday season is no exception. The city transforms into a magical display of lights, trees, and festive decor. With festivities kicking off in mid-December and continuing into the New Year, it’s easy for some hidden gems to get overlooked. Here are a few exhibits you won’t want to miss this holiday season.

Limitless at Mercer Labs

Limitless and After Dark at Mercer Labs:

Roy Nachum blends narrative and abstraction, inviting viewers to explore the structure of his imagery and techniques. The exhibition examines how technology shapes art and life in the digital age. Using digital tools and AI it challenges perception by combining art history, conceptualism, and interactivity. Limitless breaks artistic boundaries, evoking memories and awakening the inner child. ONEderland at One World Observatory

This mesmerizing event uses every inch of space (walls, ceilings, and floors) in vivid LED projections. It’s uniquely magical in a night sky and uses light and sound to explore our connection to the cosmos, creating a moving, cinematic experience. Price: Free

The Louis Vuitton Visual Symphony

Louis Vuitton has turned its Fifth Avenue flagship into a outdoor work of art. During its multi-year renovation, the building is wrapped in a stunning 240-foot façade inspired by the brand’s iconic hardsided trunks. This holiday season check out The Louis Vuitton Visual Symphony which is a nightly light show that runs from 5pm-10pm and ends on Christmas.

The Museum of Natural History: This season The Museum of Natural History has quite a few exhibits to visit this holiday season. Ice Cold: An Exibition of Hip Hop Jewerly is a  showcase celebrates hip-hop’s cultural influence through custom-made jewelry from stars like Slick Rick, A$AP Rocky, Nicki Minaj, The Notorious B.I.G., Bad Bunny, and Erykah Badu. Highlighted is  jewelry as symbols of individuality and empowerment, reflecting hip-hop’s impact on fashion and culture. On view at the Melissa and Keith Meister Gallery, it ties into New York City’s 50th anniversary of hip-hop and explores the use of minerals in personal adornment.

Origami Holiday Tree is a  New York City tradition.The Origami Holiday Tree has been a highlight of the season at the Museum for decades. This year, in honor of the 2024 leap year, the 13-foot tree titled Jumping for Joy celebrates animals renowned for their unique ability to jump, leap, and pounce. Adorned with over 1,000 origami pieces, the tree features intricate models of animals like rabbits, kangaroos, grasshoppers, frogs, squirrels, porpoises, whales, the newly discovered leaping leech, and cicadas—two broods of which emerged together for the first time since 1803!
