Fun, Floats and Fervent Crowds at the Puerto Rican Day Parade

Resident Staff

Tens of thousands of proud Puerto Ricans and other onlookers filled Fifth Avenue to partake in the 62nd annual Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sunday, June 9th.  Everyone from Governor Cuomo to Senator Chuck Schumer as well as City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, Attorney General Letitia James, Comptroller Scott Stringer and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams attended the colorful celebration.  Even U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez showed off her Puerto Rican pride as she sprinted down Fifth Avenue.

The parade, which became more of a party, is always a festive event which highlights the rich culture and heritage of the Puerto Rican people.

Singer Ricky Martin served as this year's Grand Marshal while other prominent figures and fun floats made their way down the avenue which turned into a sea of red, white and blue – Puerto Rican pride was in the air!
