Chet Lo made an unapologetic statement at London Fashion Week FW25, unveiling ‘Modern Antiquity’ at 180 Studios. This season, Lo takes a radical approach to reclaiming Asian artistic identity, confronting colonialist misrepresentations of chinoiserie and reshaping them into subversive, contemporary fashion.
With ‘Modern Antiquity,’ Chet Lo reclaims traditional Asian motifs, distorting and reimagining them through an authentic, unfiltered lens. This collection dissects Western artistic tropes, turning them into something boldly, defiantly Asian. Tiger prints morph into intricate, repeated patterns, while classic cloud motifs explode into delicate floral transformations. The result? A collection that bridges past and present, reclaiming the essence of Asian heritage through progressive design.
Lo’s signature merino wool spikes take center stage, complemented by intricate woven pleating and plush knitting techniques that create a three-dimensional floral effect. Fabric manipulation remains a key storytelling device, adding depth, structure, and movement, reinforcing the overarching theme of artistic transmutation.
FW25 also introduces an exclusive footwear collaboration with Converse, offering a first glimpse at the specially designed sneakers for the collection.
