Living La Dolce Vita

Resident Staff

By Lisa Loverro

Having the unique distinction of once being the home to Queen Margherita of Savoy, the Regina Hotel Baglioni is situated on the famous Via Veneto, described as a meeting place for artists, writers and actors most notably during the Dolce Vita period. The hotel is within a short walking distance to the Galleria Borghese Museum, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, just to name a few iconic landmarks, and has played host to such famous guests as Isabella Rossellini, Liza Minelli and Enrique Iglesias.

Its central location is only one of the hotel's remarkable characteristics that make it an extremely desirable destination. Its distinctive atmosphere allows one to feel the warmth and welcoming Italian hospitality while surrounded by breathtaking art and history. The 125 guestrooms here are filled with lush furnishings accented with Art Deco accents pieces and even silk wallpaper. Most of the deluxe rooms have balconies overlooking the Via Veneto, although some just offer a non descript view. The marble tiled bathrooms have showers, tubs and more than one would expect from a European hotel. The lobby of this grand hotel has floor-to-ceiling marble gleams and gilded mirrors as well Murano chandeliers that showcase the grand entrance. The hotel also boasts fine stuccos and eighteenth century works of art, along with more classic, warm tones at their Caffe Baglioni. In the summer months the hotel's rooftop lounge hosts wine and champagne tastings led by a sommelier.

Regina Hotel Baglioni Rome is perfect for the leisure traveler, the sophisticated business traveler and can handle business meetings, conferences and special events. The hotel has 3 elegant meeting rooms with a total capacity of 150 people theatre style.

It's estimated that the building where the hotel is housed was constructed somewhere between 1892 and 1894 and a major renovation was completed in 2009 during which the total number of rooms was reduced to enlarge some of the rooms and create the Regina Suite. The Baglioni SPA by Caschera SPA is considered a metropolitan oasis dedicated to all who want to experience authentic luxury, clam and well-being. The spa features two massage rooms, a beauty room, fitness centre, sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi and changing rooms.

Breakfast is served at Caffe Baglioni between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m., and lunch is available in the cafe between Noon and 3 p.m. Dinner is served Monday through Saturday at the Brunello Restaurant. The Brunello Lounge & Restaurant is one of the trendiest addresses in Rome where visitors and locals meet nightly turning the lounge into a true workshop of creativity. The restaurant offers inventive dishes with classic Mediterranean flavors using only the highest quality ingredients. The lounge also caters to the beautiful people of Rome (which is almost everyone) and filled with an artistic vibe. It's the place you want to be on any given night to enjoy one of their imaginative cocktails or a fine dining experience. As the old saying goes "when in Rome…" to which I would offer to add "when in Rome, stay at the Regina Hotel Baglioni."
